  • Now the U.S. is conducting war on Muslims. and other Muslims killing muslims, even though. War in Iraq, soon a nuclear war to go on with Pakistan. Osama Bin Laden was comfortably living in Pakistan. So there going to get their nukes and U.S. has got ours. "Nuclear Warfare shall lay us to rest" We'll prove they knew he was there and all out Nuclear Warfare. The whole world will end very soon. Thank goodness.

  • a lot of native americans just call themselves and eachother indianss. they've been called it for so long. i have friends who run on 'indian timee.' haha so yea.. don't tell the natives to be politically correct, they can do what they want. ahahaha

  • Glorious. Pure poetry. Starwalker gives me chills. Makes me homesick. I want to be out in the bush. I want to watch the sunrise over the sand dunes at Ipperwash. Buffy Sainte Marie is a fearless genius of a songwriter and her music transports me.

  • I wish I would've been fortunate enough to have known of you, but just now discovered you when I Googled "black moccasins" in Images. I ran across your beautiful face and clicked and there you were :) Starwalker was the first song I listened to and, now, I am hooked! I am forever your fan, Ms. Sainte-Marie!

  • This song gives me good goose bumps everytime I hear it! Genius Songwriter.

  • Though I'm not privileged enough to be Native American, I have a deep respect for all Native American and First Nation cultures. This song is a powerful prayer for peace. May the hopes and dreams of Buffy and all "starwalkers" come true.

  • Buffy is such a bombshell. <3

  • Being a fan of her music since a child, now I'm returning to iTunes to purchase this album. Another favourite album of mine is, "Coincidence and Likely Stories." Which isn't available on iTunes.

  • lookfine lol

  • a wonderful singer and song thank you very much for sharing this ;-)

    (@ iamearthbornami ;-) Thank you for ...

  • Right On Buffy! I'm originally from the Caribbean, I first saw/heard her music on a documentary film, although I only saw the last 20mins, but the music was enthralling enough to make me an instant fan - she's an incredible artist. Would love to see her perform live!

  • Song gives me chills, it's beautiful....

  • :)

  • again BSM...

  • great song!

  • About two days ago I felt the sudden urge to listen to this song and I have listened to this again and again...just can't stop. As if the lovely inner garden is being nourished and keeps growing powerfully the more I listen. What a Gift! Thank you dear friend for sharing this with us. (I love 'No No Keshagesh' too!)

    Wishing you well.Take care.

  • Had a history professor mention her musicthe other day and I had never really heard of her so I looked her up and this song is kind of awesome!

  • Don't have a direct answer, it comes from the inside, from the spirirt.

  • Maybe i was born out of place, I've always been identified with Northen Natives, maybe because ours were wipped out by spaniards. I live in Puerto Rico, I'm a pyrography artist and had the blessing of participating at the annual Powattan Renape art festival at Rankokas Res. in New Jersey. It was a great experience and one thing i'll always remember was a bumper sticker that read: "BEFORE WE WERE INDIANS WE WERE PEOPLE". It changed my whole life.

  • @opelicano123 wow, that is a powerful bumper sticker saying! how do you relate to it?

  • @opelicano123 we are always people no matter what the perception of any people who may have modern advantages to guide their journey,we have a culture to be cherished and not forgotten, and so i say god bless you sister for planting the seeds of our past, even if the moment we remember will be forgotten just as fast

  • hey everyone - writing as essay on the "Rez Sisters" about the loss/problems of Indian Identity, spirituality as it relates to the effects of colonialism. Just thought of quoting Buffy Sainte-Marie - if anyone could think of a perfect line from any of her songs that might apply to my topic please tell me and you'll officially be amazing :D I was thinking of that line from this song in particular "sister and brothers now altogether, aim straight and strap on"

  • Love this music , she a beautiful singer in my heart, i love the voice she gives out , just makes you wanna be a pow wow and dance your heart out , jiggle dancer you show them how its done

  • I wish I was born in Qu'appelle Valley, Saskatchewan but in HELLsinki, Finland

  • Its so funny when Americans dont want immigrants in their country. If they do then i suggest they leave back to europe. We stole these lands.

  • I feel so happy go lucky that I heard Buffy sing this song twice at concerts. outdoor concerts. If she ever has a concert near you I hope you get a chance to be there. Buffy has written many great and beautiful songs. Can someone please post on Youtube a version of Buffy's song The Jewels Of Hanalei? Please! Please do!

  • -- Proud to be native . ~ Native Pride !! ~

  • I wish I was born in Qu'appelle Valley, Saskatchewan

  • So beautiful :)

  • LOVE IT..

  • Native Cher

  • es ist einfach Toll, voller Spirit und Kraft. gigantisch

  • I watched the, Oka Crisis on, CBC and was horrified of how the, Army and how our, Government did nothing to protect the, Indians!

  • I've been a fan of Buffy's since I was a kid in the late 60's/early 70's in Sweden. The blend of indigenous music/culture and pop music swept me away back then and still does...listening to her gives me goose bumps all over and tears in my eyes....

I'm not of indigenous origin...just a white guy loving Buffy's music....

    Thank you BS-M

  • @keetahcub Agreed ^^

I have uploaded her song "No No Keshagesh" which is absolutely stunning in my own opinion. Probably not as good as this, but it comes very close ;)

  • @barbj7121 I'm Mohawk and get the same feeling walking in my native Adirondack mountains.

  • @barbj7121 me too bingbong lol!!!

  • @barbj7121 I remember seeing her on Sesame Street too and I didn't realize it was her at first :) Great musician!

  • @barbj7121 BUFF-BUFF 4 LIFE!

I honestly find Buffy Sainte-Marie such an inspirational artist, I mean, i guess I am somewhat biased seeing I am also Native American, but Buffy is just such a great artist, it inspires me and all her other "starwalkers" to dream :)

    - "starwalker, he's a friend of mine"

  • @barbj7121 Your lucky you weren't born in the white world like me, I feel like a Black wolf in a White wolf's world.

I am unable to do those things, But I AM Buffy's Neice.

  • great song!

  • I love her music , it just puts the love for music back in my soul , I was always called Buffy cause i loved her music i could play it over and over

  • back to nature...listen up white man

  • omg she is so amazing!! i love her songs!! "Starwalker" & "Darling Dont Cry" are my fave

  • With you, from Slovakia. Only the best wishes to you.

  • from wnen i first heard her her voice always brought a chill up my back but she sings from the hart .............love her

  • looking for her singing in the grand canyon seen it when l was a kid

  • She has never got the acclaim she so deserves because the American establishment tried to suppress her work esp during the Vietnam war...in fact she was globally almost impossible to buy. That is the 'power' of politicians (think LBJ) Thank God, her work is on YouTube.

  • PROUD 2 B AN INDIAN

  • @silkethirteen and rightfully so. Nez Perce representing!

  • @silkethirteen

Being from Oklahoma and with a mother of indigenous stock

(born on the Miami reservation in OK) I prefer the native indigenous

names. Indian sounds like you are on the wrong continent.

Gandhi was Indian, Jim Thorpe was of the Sac Fox people.

  • @MYGREENCOUNTRY Your dead right. Believe it or not native Americans are called Indians because Columbus was a bit confused and thought he had landed in India. He might have been a good sailor but I think he must have got a low grade in his school geography exams.

  • @blackbeasthamish LOL yes, indeed, though a great sailor in his day, Columbus was never the brightest bulb on the string, so to speak. He made, as I recall, four trips to the West Indies and went to his death bed, in his old age, yet insisting he'd found a back door into the far east (China, India, etc). Great sailor, yes, but never the sharpest knife in the drawer.

  • @silkethirteen Native. D: Indians are from India. :)

  • @silkethirteen Proud to be Mi'kmaq :)

  • @silkethirteen Indian? u mean native american

  • @ZXRon indian, NDN, natives, pairie runners, lol it all works. we know who we are

  • @silkethirteen same here, silkethirteen. tribe?

  • @silkethirteen you mean Native/Aboriginal!...unless you really do mean Indian, then that's good too.

  • with you, from europe !

  • Heard Buffy do this at the start of the Longest Walk. AIM straight. Stand tall.

  • Buffy and her Native band sang this as her final song (before encore) at Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton, two nights ago (31 Jan), and nearly brought the house down. Buffy would never want to be regarded as mainstream, but it makes you wonder at the sheer injustice that Buffy has not yet had the recognition she deserves as an artist-singer-songwriter-performer.

  • As Buffy says.... where the big crowds gather isn't necessarily where you hear the best music. The likes of Cheryl Cole or what-the-crap. Buffy has more talent in her little finger than most of today's big-buck-jonny-come-lately shams.

  • Yah i agree with you .

in utmost pespect this woman talks only about our native culuter and her beliefs through her music i feel the power as a strong proud native woman!

  • Culture is something you can't buy back once it has been forgotten stolen. It's a tribute to NDN culture throughout the North American continent that it was never completely swallowed and subsumed by consumer-driven, capitalist culture. There is something unique nd infinitely diverse and irreplaceable about NDN culture.

  • Long may it continue to exist and evolve! And thanks again to Buffy for guiding so many young Native people (not to mention non-Natives) in seeing the value and beauty of NDN cultures and where it places you in the scheme of things. Pilamaya, meegwetch!

  • a very cool song..

    Peace to all and love.

  • I'm European (from Belgium) and every time I hear this song I feel guilty for what the Europeans have done back then. This song is amazing! I hope that one day I can -just like my father- meet Buffy Sainte Marie. She is AMAZING!

  • esponse to ReneDHilton No professional media exists of any R.D.H related to singer/composer on Yahoo /Google /YouTube European or other wise No copy write song is listed by you or legiimate recording company. No talent representation exists for you -40 years in the biz u claim an not even 1 line on internet.? Starwalker 1977 no lawsuit for copy write infringement over 40 yrs. Seek psychiatric help an join a Compulsive liars group. You're an embarrassment to German people.

  • Germans are more well mannerd.

I Don't wanna brag but i'm a folk singer and im sorry that i said i wrote this song .

Didnt think you would comment back

But yeah i was a german folk singer back the 70s . i just perform around in Europe now .

  • This is responce to ReneDHilton....you must be a comic back in Germany. Do you honestly think that anyone would believe you wrote this song....lmao.

You wont be able to cash in on this venture...you would have better luck making Dream Catchers and claim you invented them....oh wait the chinese beat you to that. As most dream Catchers, Mocasins...are now made in China

  • What an insult

  • Wow, a German Buffy...I strongly don't think someone with the likes of you writing a song like this. My parents are German and Native Americian and by golly I don't think you even understand the song or what the song is about. Take yer damn meds on time and regularly

  • another great song from the first lady of songwriters. she's also the author of the most touching song i ever heard, "qu'appelle valley saskatchewan."

many thanks, and greetings from germany

  • Buffy Saint Marie wrote this song for my uncle coco. The brother of my other uncle Murray Small Legs. It is an honor that so many people are still listening to this song.

  • this is my favorite song by buffy sainte marie and im from her tribe or one of the trines anyway

  • A very powerful and wonderful song!

  • I think that's the best version I've heard yet.
