I'm sure wolves in the wilderness train their young with "positive reinforcement." They are even shown to have little wolf couches where a Freudian wolf sits down with other wolves and discusses feelings. Positive reinforcement is in dog's nature ; it's how they've successfully raised pups for thousands of years. Obviously none of you know what you're talking about.
A great example of how to train a dog? A MOTHER DOG. She doesn't use positive reinforcement or kind language when her pups get into trouble...
People who fear and ridicule minor physical corrections have no respect for dogs, their psychology or the owners out there who love their pets enough to teach them effective lessons to better their pets' lives long-term. A dog is not a toy. It is in a family of strong, athletic carnivores. It's healthy to raise it as such.
Shock collar is for lazy ass people who cant or dont have the time to do it. this is realy awful i do agree. the best trained dog dont go around getting shocked when it doesnt listen to commands.
This product is great for problem dog behavior that is not changed by training.
First you do the dog commands so it understands and then use the device for correction which is not more than a small static shock to get their attention.
I have a Jack Russell who is not really socialized well to humans, he is a beautiful dog and I am the 3rd owner of a dog less than a year old. With a remote training device I have stopped the worst behavior and the dog will not have to be adopted out again.
Don't be fooled by the nice presentation. Shock collars are torture. They are not required. If you want to train your dog, learn how dogs learn. Punishment is not a training tool and your dog will learn nothing by punishment alone. You will have to use positive reinforcement so why not learn how to do it properly. Would you use this tool on your kids?
@guy2932 The reason you cry torture is because you are ignorant of the product and the properties of electricity. A tool my parents used on me as a kid is commonly referred to as the spanking. Some parents pinch. Some parents slap knuckles. This collar feels like a pinch, similar to the effect of canine cuspids from a corrective 'nip'. Have I worn one myself? Yes. I would never use a physical device like this on a loved one without actually understanding the nature of it. It's not bad at all.
Obsolutely disgusting. What a weak attempt to get your dog to "obey". Fear of a human is NOT the way to teach anything. It's very dissapointing to see these methods still being used. These videos make me sick.
some of you people are so stupid. it doesn't hurt the dog if it's set to the right level. that level is the lowest possible when you can still get a response. I've tried it on myself too, and it doesn't hurt at all. it's like if you get up from sitting down and you get up and touch a light switch and it shocks you, it's like instant and non-hurtful.
1) Shock collars have been proven through research to raise a dogs anxiety, and make them more aggressive over time. 2) Not all shock collars have shock levels on them, those that don't DO hurt a lot. 3) While low levels aren't excessively painful, and it may be a static electricity shock, why would you chose this to be the method you want to curb behavior? 4) If it's so humane at low levels, how about you use it on your kids while they're growing up to curb their own bad behavior?
As soon as my dog can start talking, I'd reconsider the shock collar. When my akita runs up to someone off leash he becomes very excited and jumps on people and licks their faces. He is not aggressive toward people. Other dogs, he is. I don't want him hurting someone elses dog and so I plan on having a shock collar for him.
@ugmidnight12 Therein lies the problem. You don't want him hurting someone elses dog, so instead of leashing your dog (which you should, I'm sure your city/town has leash laws for pets) you're going to hurt it? So your dog has to suffer because you're a lazy owner?
wrong again. There is a designated area in my city (chicago) where it is legal to have your dog off a leash. Like the collars that are man made, so are leashes as well as the laws we create to enforce using them. In an increasingly dynamic society I believe people will continue the trend of what works.
@ugmidnight12 You're not getting the point I'm laying. You don't want him hurting other dog's, but instead of leashing him, which keeps him from hurting himself or others, you're going to use a shock collar to zap him when he's doing something undesirable, even if it IS preventing harm of other dogs? It's a trend of what works for people. If it were up to the dog, it'd probably pick the leash. Ask yourself this: would you put one on your child to correct bad behavior?
Show me a collar that does not have settings. And any research you have is simply wrong. The freedom afforded a well trained dog adds happiness to their lives.
Your unfamiliarity with the products and your willingness to ignorantly judge and misinform others is evil.
Once your dog is familiar only lowest setting needed. E-collars save many lives!
@James92802 Propaganda? Evil? Do you even know what the concept of being evil is, since you want to speak so loosely about "ignorance"? And I can show you show a collar, I still have one I used for a month in a bin in storage; there is one setting, on and off. So, I'll ask you again, you fucking retard, would you put one on your child to correct bad behavior? I'm going to guess no. But somehow it's okay for your dog. In the mean time, you can suck my dick and eat my shit, faggot.
The first thing this guy should have done was put it on himself and tried it. There is absolutely no reason to use an electric collar under any circumstances. The dog is not going down on his own, he is falling down due to the shock. A video like this advocating cruel training methods should be banned should be banned from You Tube.

I have trained dogs for over 20 years and this is AWFUL. His parents should have trained him with electric shock.

@devindecheaux They probably trained him with spankings. Tell me, is that also abuse? What have you been training dogs to do for 20 years, exactly?

@20vke25 So your parents never struck 'fear' into you when you misbehaved as a child in order to develop healthy respect?
