USC wasn't in the NCAA Tournament or even the NIT in 2010. They barely even made it to the tournament this year and got smoked by VCU in the FIRST ROUND, proving that USC never belonged.
The National Invitational Tournament isn't strictly for consolation. It serves a purpose for programs that didn't make it to the NCAA. It serves as a stepping stone for the next year. Several teams from the 2010 NIT field - including North Carolina, Connecticut, St. John's and UAB - did make the jump into this year's field. The National Invitational Tournament isn't strictly for consolation. It serves a purpose for programs that didn't make it to the NCAA. It serves as a stepping stone for the next year. Several teams from the 2010 NIT field - including North Carolina, Connecticut, St. John's and UAB - did make the jump into this year's field. An embarrassing tie for USC was against San Diego State in 1992. Also, USC has played some scrubs over the years like San Jose State, Colorado State and Idaho. This year they scheduled the "mighty" Syracuse and Minnesota. Just so you know, Alabama has schedule Clemson (2008) and Virginia Tech (2009) for their opening games, something you failed to mention.

He has issued games with Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Georgia Tech. We play 8 SEC games every season, so we obviously can't schedule 4 other teams like Oklahoma, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon alongside the SEC teams like LSU and Auburn. No one has that type of schedule and no one ever will. I've already explained that the Pac-10 plays cupcakes as well. Portland State?

Alabama has beat (at the time) #18 Penn State, #10 Arkansas, #7 Florida and #19 Miss State and played but lost to #19 South Carolina (who will play in the SECCG) and #10 (now #5) LSU. Alabama has gone 4-2 against Top 20 Teams. USC has gone *currently* 0-2 against Top 25 teams. Alabama still has to play #2 Auburn. I don't see USC playing 7 top 20 teams in one season, and 6 teams with bye weeks (4 ranked)
