Dont ever compare aikido and jj because their are different! bjj is good but the problem i see with that is that their goal is to take the person to the ground which is not always a good idea, aikido is far more advanced than jj i practice both so i can say this becuse there is a big difference when i get thrown by an aikido instructor and a jj instructor, they both hurt the difference is that in i aikido i fly 5 feet away in in jj i go straight to the ground than get chocked, both work!

I was testing for 5th Dan in Dallas, Texas in 2005 and this guy took out my testing partner in about .5 seconds for giving him a smart alec comment!!! He was SPECIAL FORCES INSTRUCTOR for a Soviet Bloc Country. He signed my 5th Dan certificate. Vladimir Vasiliev was also Special Forces Instructor and these SOB's will hurt ya in a New York minute! They don't do play karate! This dude's a mean motor scooter. Visit him and he'll jack your butt way outta shape for the rest of the day.

Saying this is not Aikido is like someone critising a Kung Fu video because it is not Crane Style. You are looking at a couple of pages in the Aikido encyclopedia. Aikido origins were brutal Aikijutsu. The top instructors of the Japanese martial arts sent their best students to learn it - because it worked and they had no answer to it. A lot of Aikido today is not martially "effective" but even the most "ineffective" has its place. This is very capable Aikido. 3rd Dan 14 years Aikido.

These are real good movements, but unfortunately it has nothing with the aikido´s principles. Where is the AI? I just see painful immobilizations done by a huge guy, that doesn´t matter if his opponent is injuried or not. Aikido is much more well balanced than that. Realni just like Krav Maga can be incredible effective, but it´s really not an Art of Peace.
