  • the lyrics are mixed up here, did he sing the wrong thing or do it on purpose? he says "in a fast neon sign, im amazed that i survived, an airbag saved my life" weird

  • In the next world war....in the one you left behind....I am born again

  • in a fast neon sign :D

I love this song so much

  • Kinda weird... unlike most bands they still sound great, and the most similar to the album version live.

  • "In an interstellar burst, I am back to save the universe." This album saved the universe of rock music.

  • pause at 3:31

  • Great song definitely one of their best songs. hey if you Like Radiohead Check us out!

  • I watched them live at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC in the 90s. It was truly the best show I'd ever seen in my life. Paranoid Android was breathtaking.

  • Jonny is unbelievable

  • @chikochan43 ,

yeah - i practically worship thom but methinks jonny's the star of this performance alrite.

  • i remember last summer when i bought OK Computer... i put in it, heard those huge distorted whole notes and was immediately in love with this incredible song and band

  • FANTASTIC AND MAGIC...

  • One of the best songs in the last 20 years what a epic by a epic band i seen RadioHead in 2008 and they were epic they played the In/Rainbows set and songs The Bends,Ok Computer,Kid A, and Hail to the Thief. There style of music has changed alot from The Bends and Ok Computer days,Pablo Honey is now a forgotten classic if it came out today it would be one of the best albums. If the The Bends was out now it would be at number 1 for a long time Ok Computer will be a classic for the next 20 years.

  • The intro is MONSTER!

  • Every single instrument is doing something great - the mixer doesn't know who to put up and down in the mix!

  • WOW..... radiohead like always is so amazing.. Peace

  • an airbag saved my life

  • 57 cunts...

  • @angusthekat u r a c**t. only a c**t uses that word.

  • es feo el hdp e

  • Radiohead is my airbag.

  • It is so funny how they contributed a thank you song to an airbag..Hehehe

  • @TonyCostaMusic

I feel ya' man, the new stuff just doesn't have that same vibe. I mean its still brilliant, but it isn't stuff you can just listen to. This is what I'd listen to when walking along on a cold, windy evening after winning the lottery, while the head track on King Of Limbs, Bloom, is a chaotic array of sounds and lyrics relating to suicidal temptations and false hopes. Every bit as ossum, but not the same, and I miss that.

  • I loved their new album but I also miss when they used to rock out just like this.

  • did Thom mess up with the lyrics on the first verse

  • Johnny's guitar tone. Rediculous

  • the first 30 seconds of this song are just so stupifyingly tremendous that I must listen to the intro multiple times to soak up its brilliance every time I hear this song. Genius drumming/drumbeat & fantastic layers of godly guitar sonics & achingly almost painful vocals equals just one song that should have forever made their mark even if they never made another track. And live here they just somehow top the untoppable original. God I wish this band still existed [they evolved sadly :^( ]

  • @wmprokipchak I love your thoughts on this, this track gives me instant chills and quivers my backbone til my soul trembles, they have left me lagging behind with KOL but this song will forever elevate and excite me.

  • @maxjaswhisk Airbag was also the first track I heard by the band about 10 years ago and to this day it's still my favourite track by Radiohead. It's a fucking work of genius.

  • He got a hair transplant.

  • they will never play airbag again due to the fact they played it all the time.

  • That cast ain't gonna stop Jonny

  • @notpc48

    No... just no

  • kinda insulting placing closing credits during a Radiohead song I think

  • @johnbrown53160 they closed the show. how is that insulting? idiot

  • The best version of this song is by Richard Cheese, It is 1000X better than this,

  • @notpc48 =thanks4tip 2check out the reinterpret by R Cheese. & returning the favor I hope,

See clip from a great show (also w/ a "cheesy" sounding name) "Cougartown" .Do YOUTUBE videosearch= Ted (Sam Lloyd) from The Blanks | Cougar Town 2x21

dude from band called "the Blanks" (who also wildly reimagines hit songs) plays guy in show who can redo any song you name so it sounds sad..great version=B52s "Love Shack" &version of inane happy 80s band A-HA's "Take on Me" kills original! N-joy

  • Thom Yorke must have had a hair transplant coz he has a LOT more hair now than the receding hairline in this vid!!!!

  • @bees1982 pretty sure he once said that it started falling out around this time - which is why he stopped dying it. I wish I knew as much about foreign exchange fundamentals as I do about Thom freaking Yorke

  • @bees1982

nah, it's just that the longer hair looks thicker.

  • Thank you for saving Thom Airbag...thank you

  • Ok i usally hate ads but when thruston moore was the ad. my life was changed for ever.

  • When you have just made the best album in the world how do you react? Just like this.

  • @okcomputeA It's "an airbag saved my life" not "head back to my life." Hence the title of the song

  • jools loves radiohead!!!

  • u can go out

  • I am born again!

  • greatest band alive

  • @sarahlizabethk just after Pink Floyd !

  • Fantstico!!! los vi en Buenos Aires. Una version parecida a esta.

  • this is such a fierce live performance of airbag! to have seen this live would of been mind blowing!greenwood is exceptional and wildly savage with his display of dexterity! natuarally able to paint abstract and incendiary yet always erotically haunting guitar passages! truely first class genius! :)

  • Thom got the first part of the song lyrics wrong. No big deal

  • @22jakev he always gets the lyrics to airbag wrong it seems lol

  • Never came to Serbia,too... :(

  • does anyone know what distortion pedal Jonny is using to get his main distorted sound? Like on the intro

  • @jfrizzlle It's a Marshall Shredmaster.

  • @jfrizzlle I think it's one of those old Marshall ones. Can't remember what they're called.

  • @jfrizzlle ProCo Rat on the studio version I do believe, Jonny was a famous user especially during the Bends/Ok Computer era

  • @jdawg1692

ProCo Rat or Boss SD-1 ?

  • @PochoProfeta145 He uses the SD-1 now but if you just do a quick search on Jonny and the ProCo Rat you'll see that he's used it in the past. This performance was filmed in the cross-over period (from Rat to SD-1) so it'd be hard to say exactly what he's playing unless they showed a clear view of his board :P

  • 3:27 Thom has the same face Lady GaGa has on her new album... except his is way better

  • WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW es casi una experiencia religiosa

  • how do 54 people possible dislike this?

  • @Blinkyboy99 great song but even so the album was so unbelievably amazing it wasnt one the best. opinions opinions opinions

  • god greenwood gives me chills!!!!sonic devil!:)

  • i cant believe this is 14 years ago and the music hasn't aged at all

  • what kind of guitar does thom have in this?

  • @RuleTheRadio23 Looks like a Fender Mustang. Check it out & compare. The clearest shot is@ like 1:41.

  • @RuleTheRadio23

    It's a jazzmaster.

  • Even when Johnny is playing in that cast, he still plays better than most guitarists these days.

  • god I worship greenwood! he is supreme!!!!!!!!!!

  • Did anyone else notice his mess up of the first verse?

  • Comment removed

  • each radiohead song gives me a whole new feeling to feel for the first time.

  • My favourite band. Outstanding. This performance isn't the best ever though......!

  • fantastic song.

  • An Epic song...

  • ** Goes off to listen to OK Computer **

  • God knows how many times i've listened to this over the years, and within 5 seconds of playing this for the first time in quite some months - Goose pimples, hairs on back of neck and arms - feeling more or less the same way as i did during very first time I heard it, all those years ago! Qualiteeeee!!

  • damn right brother!barrettt is alive and well in the hearts and sounds of the creme of modern guitar players, greenwood, moore, malkmus, coxon(although blur are kind of naff indie pop)Its a shame there all on there way out!moore and greenwood are running out of innovations and charm!contraversial!but unfortunately true!but this performance is SHEER MAGIC!

  • @maxjaswhisk, felt the same way 6 years ago. They are definitely in a class by themselves.

  • This is not fair to the other bands in the world... A band shouldn't sound this good when playing live!

  • epilepsy+thom=win

  • Jonny is a beast

  • I just recently heard Radiohead for the first time in my life, and this was the first song. I am absolutely blown away.

  • @maxjaswhisk Haha, this was the first Radiohead song I heard as well and it was only about 2 or 3 years ago! I've become the largest fan since then though...the LARGEST

  • @maxjaswhisk I was entirely blown away

  • @maxjaswhisk God I wish I could discover Radiohead all over again. Just like I wish I could rediscover Jeff Buckley's 'Grace' all over again.

  • @maxjaswhisk Have fun discovering all of their albums :)

I've only started to appreciate how good In Rainbows actually was this week, one of the best albums of the last decade imo.

  • @maxjaswhisk same here, airbag was the first one I heard

  • @GeoMcEvan haha same

  • @adamgergich96 I'm guessing the same is true for a lot of people, OK Computer is probably their most famous album, and it's the first song on there so yeah.

  • @maxjaswhisk .......Enjoy the ride my friend, listen to the InRainbows album.

  • @maxjaswhisk welcome to the real world

  • @maxjaswhisk

you've missed many years but I am convinced they will be playing for a while and you can listen to pretty much any of their albums infinite number of times. Welcome to Radiohead Fandom.

  • @maxjaswhisk

Probably my favorite track of the many I love by this the best of bands. Check out the demo/acoustic version of Airbag. Amazing. Also check out the acoustic version of Subterranean Homesick Alien.

  • @maxjaswhisk So how have you been enjoying life outside of your cave on Mars.

  • @maxjaswhisk I am of the opinion that this is their best song of all, so you got a good intro :)

  • @maxjaswhisk Ye want to check out the song "Paraniod Andriod" mate from this very same show ! "Radiohead jools `97" will get ye there ! One of the greatest TV performences EVER !! Peace Ye`all !!

  • @maxjaswhisk it only gets better from here. just keep in mind that a lot of their stuff takes a *looong* time to appreciate. took me at least 6 months to 'get' Kid A. now it will always be my favorite of theirs.

  • @maxjaswhisk

This isn't even in their top 20 songs if you can believe it. I've never heard a bad Radiohead song, especially post Pablo Honey. You've found a truly special band.

  • @maxjaswhisk Check out "Paraniod Android" from the same show to be further blown away ! Peace Ye`all !

  • @maxjaswhisk I know right? Same thing man

  • Comment removed

  • @maxjaswhisk one of the few bands of musicians.....and wow, lucky you - this for a first song? One of the greatest baselines in a song (IMHO) - offset, random, but structured - it's awesome.

  • @maxjaswhisk

    Took you long enough. :P

  • @maxjaswhisk=

good for you.. like this?check out the stunningly great "OK Computer" & the slightly more conventional hit-songy but equally high quality tuneage on 2nd cd "The Bends". From experience I see=the stuff that holds up over time=well crafted songs w/well crafted layers of artistic creations including lyrics+singing+chosen songs' harmonies+melodies+some dissonance+creatively varied playing & riffs/ bits that interlock or come in & out. Saw em on SNL last week=lacked all of these :^'(

  • Love how Thom mangles the lyrics at the start... "fast neon sign"... lol

  • amazing!

  • ugly alien man with the shaky head

  • 60s =Beatles, 70s = Led Zeppelin, 80s = the time that land forgot!!, 2000= Radiohead!

  • Its so dead perfect that I don't know what to say.

  • 3:30 lol

  • EPIC

  • Jonny rules. His composition of There WIll be Blood was orgasmic.

  • johnys a fucking GOD!!!

  • JOHNNY GREENWOODS A FUCKING GOD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • around 3:50 Syd Barrett shines through Jonny's Guitar

  • @SydnRain i was thinking Adrian Belew

  • Best valentines day present, hearing they have a new album out on Saturday. Genius, pure genius.

  • @drdance1970 Yeah, I can't wait!

  • I love them more than my girlfriend hahah

  • @injecktylo wow

  • never seen him play a Jazzmaster

  • @matdur2000

what the hell are you talking about?

  • Comment removed

  • @matdur2000 Fail you replied to urself

  • What's lipsynced?

  • its lipsynched you goof ktrel54

  • @Shaputy

You're an idiot if you think this is lipsynched

  • @cKunke2 you have to be the dumbest cunt in the world if you think its lipsychned. Fact

  • @Shaputy lol are you being serious?

  • One of the best songs ever. Groovy and wicked bass line

  • only thom yorke could take something as simple as a car crash and make an amazing song out of it.

  • @spankythedog56 Haha, that's funny because it isn't true. Sir David Bowie wrote an amazing song called 'Always Crashing in the Same Car', although in that case a car is presumably a metaphor.

  • @Empayes

yes, but that's david bowie, which proves how incredible Thom is.

  • completely agree...........this stirs my soul

  • my one and only fear in life is to die before I get to see them live

  • Awesome bass line.

  • I get chills just thinking about listening to this song.

  • best radiohead album opener.

  • @krorphish Dunno man Planet Telex and Everything In Its Right Place are both awesome 2 Everything just pips them both tho IMO.

  • awesome band...

if u like Radiohead, u might wanna try : Watermind - "Not Again"

    P.S: Thom Yorke is a freakin´genius!!!

  • @sahsahsah tried it. NOT EVEN CLOSE!

  • this song has so much sway and vigor

  • Wow. To think that 10 years or so ago we didn't have HD!

  • How Jonny do that solo?? Can anyone please teach me??

  • @hangtee Whammy, delay and momentary kill switch

  • @hangtee this solo seems to me like a car noise...in my opinion jonny is trying to reproduce the sound of a jackknifed juggernaut ;)

  • @zephranna01 Oh, I seeeee, you are subtly trying to get me to shut up. Okay, my last word: Just cos you don't like Radiohead doesn't mean you have to annoy people by saying you're going to kill them on their videos, just don't insult people's tastes.

  • @zephranna01 Aha, so really, you're trying to make a point that if you antagonize a troll it will just get worse? Or are you just being stupid?

  • good tune. "house of cards" off of "rainbow" is aslo a great one.

  • @zephranna01 I'm sorry, are you retarded or something? You're just wasting space. You don't even like this video anyway. Piss off.

  • @zephranna01 Go away, you silly little man.

  • Whoa what's goin on in here

  • @zephranna01 Go and masturbate somewhere else, if you please.

  • Is there a Tom Yorke bobble head?

  • @zephranna01 2011, you are assassinated by me. No more depressing troll.

  • llove the song, but that video wasn't that good

  • If you think Radiohead is boring, youre not pushing the envelope, trapped in a loop of lies, this music frees you.

  • man... 3:36 looks like the front cover of a horror movie DVD...

  • Damn. I wouldn't expect it to be this good live.

  • They are very good live, I really like them. I think they're always a bit ahead of time in terms of music composition. This is one of the best bands ever to me. Any Radiohead fans out there, it would be an honor if you could take a little time and check my band's music on this channel. We've just recorded a first EP and we're looking to be heard. If you like Radiohead then you like some of the best music ever and it would be great to have some feedback from you. Thanks. Peace

  • pause at 3:31 xD

  • @markbray69 LOL!

  • best live version ive heard

  • Thom fucking rocks a polo :D

  • What can i say...one of the only british bands who fucking rock my boat with their innovative and interchanging style!!!
