  • Not too sure how religion and race found its way into the comments here, suffice it to say that a stick or knife hurts you regardless. That is Kali.

  • let them saw us a fight against kendo with katana!!!!!if they would dare to do that ,i want to be the first to see this fight!!!!they would be open like a mellow by katana!!!!!

  • @TAOTAO3730 If you think that changing the weapon makes you a better fighter, I can present you a sub-machine gun. Letś what yout Katana sword will do against a sub-machine.

  • @Kombato better bring a nuclear bomb,,,the tsar bomb!!!read what i wrote first ,and after remake your comment!!!!!!

  • @TAOTAO3730 Welll your text is dubious. What do you mean by "us"? Are you a filipino tactics pratitioner or japanese!?

  • dont talk about religions here. find some other place to talk bout religion

  • those are warriors from brazil. They're tranning at flamengo beach in Rio de janeiro. They are trainers of Kombato ( it's a martial arts from brazil, Similar Krav magá).

  • is this philipines or malaysia??

  • @copypacercopypacer

Malaysians are different from Filipinos, they have diiferent skin texture and their WOMEN STiNKS!

    Hahahaha!

  • The implication that women during those times are naked (upper part) is wrong.. Babailan/Katalonan (Priestess) are respected as higher leaders and due to influence of Islam in Kingdom of Tundok, Namayan and Namayan (Modern Manila), woman are prohibited of exposing. Silk trade with China also made possible for Rajah, Datu, Maharlikas' are doted with ceremonial clothings similar to Sri Vijaya clothing of Malaysia, Brunie and Mindanao Moro Tribes.

Ifugao, Ilocano, Ibanak are different tho.

  • Magellan voyage araound the world and DROP dead in the shore of the Philippines!

  • 9.43 what an array of sticks and blades, i heard many filipinos died due to knife assault, now i can understand why.

  • @maheshwarananda

    Hahaha!

Many Filipinos die in gunshot wounds! Have u seen a FiGHT w/ filipino, against a man holding a REVOLVER and shooting at his foe w/ 4 meters, the man just dodging the bullet fired from a gun, and manage to get close to the shooter and disarm him. That guy never been hit by a single bullet!

  • @bayyagg I agree, Malay(Ancestors) at that time have traditional shields at least. To approach the enemy.

  • @bayyagg filipinos=awsome

  • These knife style is from Silat, you all practice well! I like the typical white man story as well :D

  • nice video ^_^

  • Actually all Filipino martial arts are combination of all other country martial arts which is form of blade and stick weapon. Filipino Matial arts is a Modern martial Arts.

  • being a muslim or a christian is not in the blood, but in belief..

  • @FruitPunchSamurai7 Actually, we Christians normally say that it's by faith that we believe. Belief sounds similar though.

  • Es el video más analfabeto y freak que he visto sobre el tema XD.

  • Beacause of that history with Malaysia and the Sultanate. Philipines will always be a Muslim people. Christian or not. Philipinos have muslim blood in them.

  • @Jrockfanboi85 that s not true...the people of northern luzon have never been muslims!they were animists. sorry to correct u.

  • @spartanwarrior1, yes it s true

  • @maheshwarananda

it s definitely not. get ur facts straight.

  • @Jrockfanboi85 , before the muslim immigrated from indonesia, malaysia or borneo , there were tribes in the north and south of the main island which have nothing to do with muslim, hindu, chinese or spanish, they are nature and ancestor worshipper, the muslim has the influenced in the southern part of the country. defintely i don t practice islam or christianity but i remain as part of the original tribe prior to muslim, or spanish belief system.

  • @maheshwarananda ", there were tribes in the north and south of the main island [...] nature and ancestor worshipper"

    (Pt.1)

    Historically incorrect.

Arcaehological evidence, stuff that people excavated show that especially Luzon has been heavily influenced by China linguistically, arcitecturally and culturally. Look at the precolonial names of places in Luzon, all Chinese, look at luzonian cuisine and kinship. All chinese. Look at the calendar Luzonians used in 10ct. It's buddhist.

  • @GaolisVideoLog check this out and tell me, google, society/the-igorots-of-northern-philippines

  • @maheshwarananda (Pt.1) Anything specific that I'm supposed to look at? Did you know that these different denominations of these tribes can be found in S. China down to Vietnam. Meaning to say they make up a semicircle, reaching from Luzon, over China to Vietnam. They are referred to as Hmong in other countries. It's amazing that their entire calendar as well as daily rituals are based on the plantation, harvesting and life cycle of rice...

  • @maheshwarananda (Pt.2)There are also other groups in the Philippines that are animists, like the T'boli in Mindanao, for example or the Tau't Batu on Palawan. Religions like this are very typical throughout all of southeast and northeast asia. But at no point did they ever make up the mainstream culture in these regions. This can already be seen if you read stuff, easily accesible to the public e.g.the "Biag ni Lam-Ang",where the Igorots are described as savage and backwards.Or what did u mean?

  • @GaolisVideoLog are you kidding me, pre hispanic philippines was pretty much muslim, the last king of maynilla is muslim and most of cebu, panay, negros, and even luzon was muslim except for the people with lower technology of the aetas and kaling and negrito tribes, like the absence of gunpowder and large sword in whitch only the muslim filipinos have.

  • @copypacercopypacer There were 3 kings in, if you will in in Manila, rajah Sulayman, who was muslim & a relative of sultan Bolkiah of Brunei who attacked 東都 (Tondo) & weakened the position by investing into Seludung/Maynilad, "Lakandula", which is just Kapampangan for "Man on the trhone" & Rajah Matanda. Though Islam as religion of leaders started around the Yuan dynasty, muslim leaders were by far not the only ones & it would be unfair to call them mainstream. Just look at Butuan.

  • @GaolisVideoLog yes, but apparently islam had was the dominant religion, especially due to the fact that islam brought more things into the philippine history, for ex: muslims had gunpoweder, longer swords, more metal for smithing, wear full clothing. while non muslims didn't have these things

  • @copypacercopypacer It was the Chinese not the muslims who came up with the gun powder & Chinese-Filipino relationships are older than Arab-Filipino relations. Not just Zheng He, but also the "Eastern King" Paduka Pahala speak of this time. Taoism had a tremendous impact especially on the Tagalog way of life. But also Hinduism from the Indian subcontinent w/ their Leitkultur changed SEA & Phils. Of course Islam ever since the 13th ct. changed armor & weaponry; But it's one factor among a many.

  • @GaolisVideoLog personal message me on how the chinese-filipinos made a big impact of the philippines.

  • @maheshwarananda

    (Pt. 2)

Not only that. Look at Butuan in Mindanao. You'll find Hindu and buddhist deities and clothings that have been excavated there. You know, Kinnaris, Taras, ornats. All made out of gold.

We now know, that even though there were animists in the philippine archipelago, like there are today, vast amounts of the people actually followed the major religious beliefs.

If you want, I could go into detail if you like.

  • @GaolisVideoLog society/the-igorots-of-northern-philippines

  • @Jrockfanboi85

that s a joke. i am a descendant of northern tribes in the philippines that have never been muslim at any point in time but animists. stop spreading bs.islam never reached the northern part of the archipelago.

  • @Jrockfanboi85 ur fucking retarded and that is in ur blood

  • @Jrockfanboi85

How about thouse country befor they became muslim? Malasians & Indonesians have ligitimate hindu blood in their viens.

  • @Jrockfanboi85 Before the arrival of Christian and Muslim missionaries. The whole archipelago was part of the Srivijayan Empire. A Hindu and Animalism based society.

  • Awesome video. And love those moves! 5/5!

  • Nice demo film. Keep up the good work in preserving FMA's in your country.

  • I don't know which was a form of what and when but I do know I would not get with baton distance, no, make that 100m of someone doing this! Respect due and given eh! This may be why, in my Military days, I felt so at home in my Tank!! haha Thanks for the post and nice one eh..

  • Kali is from silat. If you watch Sonny Umpad's video You can see where he took the art back to it's roots via moro dance from the southern Philippines. Peace

  • Freaking awesome video guys. Love Kali Respect!

  • hey i didnt knew that tagalog women are topless back and those days^_^

  • @darkj3am " i didnt knew that tagalog women are topless back and those days" They weren't. Look at the Boxer Codex. Pictures like the ones shown in the video were drawn during the American colonial time. Those people had no idea of history whatsoever. And most didn't care at all.

  • @GaolisVideoLog heh:P anyways, we all naked before the clothes came lol

  • Yeah... thanks for the info.... I messed up my light so I'm typing in the dark. It really good actually you know if you want to practice your heart instinct. Derived ... right not deprived... Sorry bout that. 500 years you say, hmm, it's the same time as Silat technique has been introduced to the world. Maybe Silat is a long lost brother to Kali , don't you think.....

  • I was being sarcastic before. he he. As I said in my first post FMA incorporated the techniques of the other martial arts around the Phil. mostly Chinese and of course Silat so thats why there are techniques that is similar. But who knows who copied what from whom because as I said FMA has been around for more than 500 years now so arguing about specifics is pointless.

  • Not mainly silat , but I happen to watch my buddy practice Escrima right here in our street, and I found many similarity to silat machete and rattan technique. Heck , I mean A LOT OF ! So come to think of it, I made a conclusion that Escrima was deprived from Silat technique. I don't know bout you, but seriously I'm telling the truth.

  • Are you so sure that those Escrima techniques are derived from Silat? It could be the other way around you know, that Silat copied those moves from Escrima, FMA has been around for more than 500 years you know.

And buddy its "derived" not "deprived", thats a totally different word.

  • F.Y.I - Escrima is deprived from Silat. Deprived means 'taken from'. If Filipino commando practice Escrima then Abu Sayyaf practice silat.

Tagalog is a slave for Tausug tribe. Read the book entitled The Kriss of Valor... then you shall know the truth.... Just like Judo deprived from Jujitsu , the same goes to the Escrima.

  • Escrima, kali, arnis - or FMA in general, was developed long before the spanish came to the Phil., its a weapons based martial arts which incorporated elements from chinese martial arts and others, not only silat, but it developed to be a totally different style of martial arts which puts more focus on efficiency and effectiveness and is now much more lethal I think than silat. Also Silat is now incorporating aspects from FMA so arguing about specifics is pointless.

  • And long before the spanish Conquistador arrived to Cebu and Manilla, who do you think reside in those island ? By the way , for the add up fact, Malay language was once used as

' Lingua Franca ' in the turn of 15th century. So if the Malay language can go beyond , way beyond to the great western civilization itself, what makes you think that Silat won't go that far either, that silat won't come to Fillipina .

F.Y.I - In borneo also have Escrima training school

    :)

  • Whats your point? Are you arguing that the Phil. was once a malay nation? Well Im not contesting that, however we can turn that around and claim that Malaysia and Indonesia are claimable by the Philippines, our nation IS the oldest in the region and we do have an active claim on Borneo. And when did I say that Silat wont go far? And also there already ARE Silat practitioners in the Phil. although not that many. On escrima in borneo, well its nice to know that FMA is also spreading there.

  • Nice point you got there regarding Malaysia and Indonesia are once belong to Phil , but don't you think that half of Malaysia and Indonesia also belong to Brunei ? and Brunei also have a long way of history to Mindanao Sultanate.... Hmmm... Not for arguing , but it is the fact.

  • Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei was once belong to Majapahit Empire :p

  • they should have shown a woman using umbrella to counter attack her rapist and how a kali female master can kill using her umbrella.

Search more about Lapu-Lapu!

  • sultan Kudarat?

  • DUDE THE CHICKS ARE SPORTING Kombat Instruments Limited (KIL) Gear! THATS TITE!!!

  • yepster

  • Most of people in Philipines carry guns. Even if u are a Kali master, I don't think a knife is faster than a bullet.

  • Tell that to the Marines that where stationed there way back, and had to wear thick leather neck collars to keep from getting their throats cut (hence the term leathernecks)...which was also when they adopted the 45ACP.

  • because the weapons they had were incredibly good at piercing the skin and ripping a hole into someone at 100 yards. BUT when the guy is hopped up on PCP(from the leaves they chewed) and the ENTRY hole is tiny...and your round has NO real stopping power...you needed to adopt a flatter bullet...LOL!

  • Let me put it like this: If you plan to pull a gun on a Kali master, better do so from a safe distance. ;)

  • That's right iburerie, the Filipino philosophy towards Martial Arts can differ from the rest of Asia ie fight dirty if necessary, if you got a gun use it, if you outnumber your enemy use that in your advantage no one on one BS, fight a street dog if you have to.

  • lol *fight LIKE a street dog

  • @castroneves "the Filipino philosophy towards Martial Arts can differ from the rest of Asia" Ahm... You're wrong. Ever been to China. The "Filipino Philosophy" you're talking about isn't any different from, what you might refer to as, "Chinese Philosophy". They go according to the same principle. Especially in those examples that you gave.

  • @GaolisVideoLog yes, they re all have the same principles

  • hey safiz in case you didny know that your incredibly stupid filipinos are mix of malays and indonesian and fuck you you werent there when the spanish attack the philippines FUCK YOU FUCKING ASS HOLE WE DONT NEED YOUR TYPES HERE

  • man did you see that guys he's body was lascerated

  • Who is the artist who does the hiphop type song? Does anyone know the name of the artist and song?

  • cool t- shirts the masters are wearing what exactly do they say?

"we edge, we cut, in knives we trust"?

  • Malay, Indonesian, Filipino we're in the same family u dumb shit. Kali resided in the Philippines and then evolved in the 12th to 14th century before spanish conquest. And theres more to it. Before you comment please read your History.

  • Yes, but versions of kali, refered by you as silat, also exist in southern Philippines. Movements are similar.

  • i guess u really dont know much about the evolution of kali. malaysian, indonesian and filipino kali evolved separately altho they still acknowledge each other as a branch of the original kali... however, kali or not they all fight differently (like filipino arnis for example, which now integrates original un-armed filipino martial arts like dumog

  • read some history..fag

  • you idiot..obviously you don't know that filipinos on the south have their own system of kali..why do you pretend to be a know it all??

  • Why are they using Leo Gaje's training with the Military as though this group is affiliated with him? Greg Alland may still be with Nene tortal so intead of using his pic why not use footage of Nene Tortal doing stuff?

  • There's some interesting paintings/illustrations in the beginning, can someone translate the portuguese?

  • "100's of years ago, in a place similar to ours on the exact opposite side of the planet-native song in tagalog (philipino language)-Then the innvaders arived, they made a pact, bringing their religion, language, dress, but stole the riches, enslaved the people until in revolt, the invaders were destroyed. And a secret was revealed to the world:

  • its hard to believe that whats considered as sports, play and coordination training in our country is considered as deadly arts by some countries... when i was in cebu we used kali and arnis to play (not to KILL!!)

  • you mean you didn't realize our martial arts were that deadly? :)

  • hehe not really, they even play it as sports in college Phys. Ed. class

  • ah...i guess you got the watered down, arnis / escrima / kali "lite" version LOL. Too bad. There's more to our martial arts than just games with sticks. Buti pa mga dayuhan, alam yung "dark side" ng Filipino Martial Arts. Seek out the real stuff. :)

yung favorite videos ko, may mga clips ng mas malulupit na style. Daming ganyang klaseng FMA sa pinas, hahanapin mo lang nga.

  • o cge pare slamat, hahanapin ko

  • dude that's because in the Philippines there are few real practitioners of the art..that's why you didn't know what arnis, kali and eskrima is deadly...

  • Kali was also used in traditional dances like tinikling. The art was hidden in the dance from the Spaniards. My uncle used to boast that he took kali. He thought he had one up on me since I took serrada. I found out, he learned only the dance version of kali.

  • Thanks for representing Philippines as one of the deadliest fighting arts. Mabuhay!!!

  • Mabuhay Kali!!!!

  • Talking about the most deadly art..nice vid

  • erm, i take the "mediocre" part back (i was kind of drunk when i posted my first comment)

  • Very impressive visual demonstration. Wish I could read and understand Portugese. Very nice!!
