PHILLY IS DEFINITELY IN THE HOUSE!!!!! FRESH PRINCE & JAZZY JEFF SAMPLED THIS TRACK!!!! A TOUCH OF JAZZ. THESE YOUNG CATS DON'T KNOW NOTHIN ABOUT THIS. ANOTHER LESSON TAUGHT 2DAY IN HIP-HOP HISTORY.
What an enormous talent this man was. His music was layered. There are strains of jazz, funk, r&b and soul throughout this track. Boy do I miss Marvin.
I have a copy of this on wax..totally by accident I bought an album at the thrift store, and this was inside...blew my mind when I found out that Marvin did most of the music on this by himself..Ive been searching for a complete album with a nice cover ever since...
Back in the day, WHUS-FM (Storrs, CT.) - The Black Experience in Sound introduced this album, and stations across the country picked up on it rapidly. Unfortunately, The Soundtrack was much better than the movie.....but thanks to brother Den-Den for giving us this classic!
The Angels used this as the background track to their entrance to their step show at UW-Madison in '74. It was tight as hell then and still is. I NEVER forgot it.
The 1st I ever heard of this song was back in 1987,,,on Rock the House which was Dj Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince,,,song was called ''A touch of Jazz'',,and i didn't find out until this year that it was Marvin Gaye T Plays it cool.....Wow,,,Marvin was amazin.
@DaNewJack2009 lol, funny, the first time i heard this was in a Noisia mix lollll. But I liked it enough to see who it was by and listen to it! Its sooo funky and groovy!
i want this as one the tracks played at my funeral..its so cool...i want to go out with my people feeling cool not sad...Thats how much love i got for marvin..
this is classic. i remember back in the day at the block parties this would come on the all breakers would come out of no where and start getting buzy
@crunk617 and before "the breakers" we did some breakin' it down of our own in '72 during the age of Black Films like Trouble Man, Badass Sweetback, Superfly, Shaft..."say it loud I'm black and I'm proud!" Those were the days!
i use to fuck my cousin pj up when i juggled dis shit. i was 15 at the time. he was 30 somethin.i guess age doesnt matter when skill is involved. huh pj?
Makes me want to drive a giant 70's car slowly through New York ;-)
