@MsDiesIrae9 I would to. The closest I've found so far is Stefan Grossman's stuff on fingerpicking country blues guitar, but it deals more with ragtime/blues style of playing, which is also an aspect of Redbone's repertoire but not the style of playing in this video. Good luck and let me know if you find any helpful material.
I always comment that class doesn't need flashing lights etc. relax, enjoy, a man & music. His cd's are brilliant when driving, relaxing, fun to listen to. Found him by accident a few years back, never regretted it.
nice and laid back like not so many, I enjoyed listening to it though there's also a touch of a piano twice and definately what sounds like a cornet playing towards the end
Just love the casual sophistication of Mr.Redbone - and yes, what a great natural voice! But Bobby Gordon was the perfect choice for the second part of the due. Bobby's intimate warm tone and inventiveness are perfection itself. I woiuld say they're hand in glove.
I must have been around in another lifetime when this music was new because I find it so enjoyable and real. Leon really does us a favor by recreating this sound and style. Always did like him.
I've been told by people who've met him that the "soul patch" and moustache are make up, but who's to say. Not many people can pull off a whole career with this sort of mysterious air. Either way, Leon is the man.
When he sings the old songs, wrapped in that beautiful clarinet, you can see why they're classics; music for the ages.

I'd like to learn this style of playing. Are there any instructional videos anyone might recommend?

This is the result of two genuine, unique masters of their instrumental voices....both in their zones.

Bobby Gordon is no mere accompanist . He is a collaborator and a master.

We, as a species, screwed up. We screwed up because Redbone wasn't on the Voyager record.
