Great shot NN - but remember those people set out that day to enjoy themselves seeing steam, just like you did, and naturally get excited - I know they are irritating but they're only being human! Hopefully they (and their annoying kids!) will go on to fill carriages so we can go on filming these trains! BTW (hope you don't mind a filming tip) Are you using wide angle setting when the loco passes? Because it makes these monsters look smaller than they are! Always use 1-1 as they pass.
@gainsbourg66 I agree with what your saying (within reason - have a look at my Bittern in Northampton video for just too much chatter!) - with regards to panning, you are quite right, the camera is 25mm equivalent on widest setting. I'll give your point some consideration next time I'm out. The advantage of 25mm equivalent is that camera wobble when hand held is minimised, but I will try the higher impact approach! Cheers! Mike
Why do people never realise that video records SOUND as well? I had this problem nearly 20 years ago and it's just got worse! Never mind, superb filming! . . . Alan
Very good Mike, shame about the waffle from those who should know better, good location which proves one thing, that you were not at Roade, as I went passed saw a group and whistled up.
Lovely shot, regarding chatter, do what Sean xxbec3509 does before it starts and bellow "silence in the gallery please"! It works- I have been standing next to him and was very impressed at Kings Cross with D1015 trip, trying to get the sound of the Maybachs.
That was a superb video Mike, despite the background talking, those images were stunning. This is why I never go to stations if I can help it as this noise problem is almost impossible to avoid...the open countryside is a much friendlier and tranquil place.....Bob
@robmasterman Thanks Bob; I managed to edit something useable. Southbond steam on the Loop is difficult - there really is no good location on the climb south out of Northampton other than the station - I have looked. The loco looked stunning in the sun, if a little difficult to get the light right. Mike
@TheAnorak1 Thank you - the camera might be closer to your budget than you think, and it fitsi in your pocket!. Panasonic Lumix TZ7, though the latest model is the TZ10 but I think I can live without built in SatNav! LOL! - Mike
