@biga5150 The truth is the Van Halen brothers didn't get rid of Sammy Hagar, he quit because Eddie was too difficult to work with due to his drug and alcohol problems and I'm not sure but I'm assuming that's probably the reason why David and Michael left also. I saw an interview with Sammy and he said something like "You say UP he says DOWN, you say BLACK he says WHITE".

I don't care much for Hagar. Hagar turned them into a cheesy love ballad band. They had a couple good tunes with him but it just wasn't the same. I like the original lineup with Roth which was pure, hard rock at it's best.

The main stay of the band is Eddie. I liked Van Hagar, this was one of their best songs. I think OU812 was their best album. Having said that, when I watch JUMP w/ Diamond Dave, I think, this is when the stars and planets were in alignment and all was right in the universe.

I love all their lead sings, the only one i dont like its Gary Cherone, i think he sounds better on Extreme. I used to listen more VH with Dave, but now i listen them all, their two have completely difrent voices, Van Hagar its difrent of the old van halen. I think a true Van Halen fan loves all the eras.

I prefer Van Halen with Sammy, and I prefer Diamond Dave on his own. Best of bothworlds for me. I cannot be arsed with the Sammy beating, by the so called real fans. Now, a lot of people criticize Hagar-era Van Halen as wimpy, because they started to experiment with keyboards in some songs. This one is definitely keyboard-driven, and starts out soft, but it really escalates into a great song, which intermingles both keyboards and guitars. There IS a healthy medium, and if you listen closely, many Van Hagar songs achieve this goal.

I really hate how every Van Halen video you watch, there is a massive Roth vs. Hagar debate. Can't we just respect them both as great singers and love both forms of Van Halen? Let me put it this way; DLR-era Van Halen (and DLR in general) is good times, hard hitting rock and roll, and getting laid. Hagar-era Van Halen is lighting some candles, talking about your emotions, and a cold shower. As much as the original Van Halen was crazy and bizarre - it's what made them popular. If you don't like Diamond Dave and his ego (which you seem to take more seriously than he does) don't listen to Van Halen. This song, like most of the Hagar catalog, is a sappy cliche.
