The new DmC is supposedly an origin story. And now it is considered NON-CANON to the original Devil May Cry series. In this game, Dante is the son of an angel and a demon. So yeah, I thought that was interesting, and would placate those who despised the game so far.
i really dont understand the fan's view over the new DmC. we love the dante with the white hair so much for example. so why wouldnt you pick this game up and see where the white hair that we all know and love originated? there are so many other parts of devil may cry that we need to give this game a chance before bitching about the fact that dante doesnt look like himself. honestly if you want to sit here and bitch about a game you dont understand yet, you cant call yourself a fan of dmc.

@bolduc1994 It is not DMC5, it is an alternate reality version of Dante's younger days. Get over it, if you hate the idea of a new take on a classic game then don't get it. It's simple as that.
first battle vs Vergil, Dante get's stabbed afterwards wakes up and Vergil mentions something like "I see a devil has awakened inside you as well" meaning, his devil powers awakened in DMC3 so i don't see a reason to awaken 'em again in DMC5
@tidus1336 I don't think it's exactly his "devil trigger" that's activated, more like the moves and abilities he has during DMC3. My theory is that Dante's "black hair" is hair dye or something, so he fits in with society better. Let's be honest, how many guys do you see walking around with white hair? He seems very angry and resentful in the trailers. More than likely he resents his half-demon heritage and through the game has to come to grips with that, his past, and his destiny.

But again, it's just a theory. Why I say "dye" is because if you look at some pics of "emo" Dante, you can see some specs of white hair.
IMO they should have just continued with the series, i was rly hoping to see something with continuation in dmc5, maybe the return of sparda or the return of vergil, something like that, maybe an explanation on nero's arm, why does his devil trigger resemble vergil?
They could have done so much, but yeah also unfortunately, most of the DMC team left to go work on Bayonetta, i will never forgive that game, seriously >.>

XD I just think that Sparda's background was never fully explained in any of the games, so we can never know for sure. Unless the creators pick up where they left off. Unlikely though. D:

that outfit is also an outfit for dante in MvC3 and i have heard it is confirmed to be Sparda, plus you can maybe check out some and find some fanart about him and you might find out that he does have white hair in his human form

@RE141095 I have to say, from gameplay I've seen, it could be a good game. It plays just like other games, gives Dante a Devil Bringer like power, and an interesting art style when seen in action (The levels themselves are demons out to get you, and even threaten you). Also, Dante seems more believable in cutscenes compared to the intentionally bad dialogue from other games. At least... I hope it's intentional.

So this might be the reason, because they want to continue expanding the story from young to old Dante. I think this was an opportunity for Capcom to have it reboot to a different Dante. Which I don't know why
@SilentmanX3 I saw this comment and I don't know if you know this now, but it's actually not a reboot. It's a prequel; takes place before DmC3 and expands on how Dante became Dante. This makes me rly glad, because I hated the idea of a reboot, too.
Ah, I just heard about that too. I'm really glad that it's a prequel - it actually makes the idea of a punky Dante seem somewhat appealing. He can't turn into the awesome smooth talker we know him as without some rough times beforehand, after all. :D
