Her description sounds like the Death Stalker (Leiurus quinquestriatus) Despite it being one the most toxic species, it's sting although extremely painful, isn't likely to kill a healthy adult human.

I plan on doing a study on parthenogenesis in H. hottentotta for my thesis. Not sure what I want to do with the degree exactly.
