It's incredible, I have this piece at home on a book, but it's really difficult... i play piano when i was 6 years old, i study 7 for seven years, but i can say now that piece it's really fantastic, but for play it u must have fingers like some canarins, i'm italian... excuse me if i make some errors into my rude english :-)
great! sounds like she has the tone down and everything. I would have her work on her breathing next and making sure she has her phrases down. Otherwise, very good. Good accompanist, too, for how young she is. :) Ensemble was overall good. Keep playing!
That girl on the piano was fantastic!! And the flute player was great too. I'm currently learning this on clarinet for solo competition. I have to memorize it...:/
Well done :] same criticism from me, breathing and phrasing is a little off, but well done again! I think Dominique is brilliant. She's only nine and she handles each piece very well.
dude are u serious? at her age, it's almost amazing how her diaphragm is so well controlled and her tone is absolutely amazing. It is rare seeing young girls at her age playing with such rich tone. You can criticize her phrasing but you cannot criticize her musical talent.
Her few errors have nothing to do with her having innate talent. Her errors are solely technical ones. Just because she doesn't have technique mastered doesn't mean she's not a prodigy. She very well could be a musical genius, mentally speaking. The same goes for the pianist. You rarely can judge one's innate musical talent from their proficiency with a specific instrument.
I totally agree; I wasn't speaking of innate potential so much as current, visible proficiency. As far as the eye can see, she is simply an extremely talented and learned flutist. She could be a musical genius, as you say, but doesn't play like a prodigy by my definition; by which i mean someone who sounds like a professional at a young age.
I remember this when I was about twelve or thirteen. My private instructor and I decided that this would be my solo for UIL and I placed with a first divsion. I'm 47 now, and I miss thoses years and what I could've become.
These are some seriously skilled kids. I didnt sound that well on flute until about or years of practice. Very impressive, I hope they continue their musical education further.
you played it very well for your age! it should have been played a little slower though, but other than that, it was fantastic! especially for your age. i am 14 and i am playing this song as well.
i am playing this on cello for an upcoming solo contest.
I think he means that there are doubts that the sonata is by Bach. It's probably written by one of his sons. Regardless it's a great sonata whoever wrote it!
Don't be ridiculous. The tempo was perfectly fine. Even if it wasn't, she is the musician. She has the right to interpret the music in whichever way she chooses.
Oh, I wasn't criticizing the performance! The performance is great. My comment was in response to someone who had said this wasn't a siciliano. I don't know why my response looks like an independent comment....
My mistake. Criticism's fine. It's just that, for some reason, your comment "sounded" almost condescending, but I guess that was my imagination! I get very passionate about their playing sometimes. Heh.
Wow, very nice for your age group! However, I think it could be more slower. Sounds like a march if it is played too fast :( VERY NICE SOUND ON FLUTE AND TECHNIQUE FOR PIANO! THUMBS UP FOR BOTH!
She has a nice tone (Flautist). Little pianist is exquisite! Very good! Now, Constructive criticsim: Be careful and take note on attacking "La" on Bar 3, specially the "Do" on bar 5. watch out for breathe marks. AND practice support - the use of diaphragm. I knw your only 11 but it would never hurt to practice at an earlier stage. Practice your long tones with support + vibrato. Summing-up...Its good for your age but I will push it for more. Good Luck little ones! :)
She's been playing the flute for almost exactly 2 years now. She picked it up rather quickly. She does have a good musical background, as she's been playing the piano for 4 years. (a video of her playing Glinka's "Nightingale" is on my channel as well)
They are sisters. Have you watched the rest of their videos? You play the clarinet! I listened to some of your videos. You seem very dedicated to music. Welcome all comments.
i played this for my grade 4 flute.. no offence to them or anything, its really amazing. but i could play this when i was 11. on the flute.

She is ok. I am also doing this piece. She is not really that good, about average for most grade 4 or 5.
jbjaguar 2 years ago
how can you say that?
admittedly, the breathing and phrasing is a bit off, but for her age her tone is very good :)
YellowLemonCupcake 2 years ago 2
good tone doesn't make her a musical genius. She is perfectly good, but she is not one of those asian mozarts you always hear about.

I am not criticising her, i am saying that i have met hordes of flautists who are just as good as her. She is good, but far from singular.
jbjaguar 2 years ago
I would agree with some points; she is very good, and certainly in a minority of talented 11 year olds, but not prodigous.
Really really well done, though; no way I could have sounded anywhere close to that when I was that age.

beckyboo900600 3 years ago 3
Well, it's hard to distinguish, especially at that young age; from what I've seen up to now, I'd rather call them japanese, or korean.

It sure is the second movement, "Siciliano",
from Johann Sebastian Bach's Sonata for flute
and keyboard in Eb, BWV1031.
And it is one of the best performances i have
heard, any age.

I think he means that there are doubts that the sonata is by Bach. It's probably written by one of his sons. Regardless it's a great sonata whoever wrote it!
