Another thing you can't use Microsoft and free in the same sentence. Microsoft bends you over and gives it to you and don't even have the common curtsy to give you a reach around.
That happened to me last year with the Xbox live subscription automatically updating without my say. Tried turning it off through the Xbox website but no! I had to ring customer services costing more money for the phone call. It's scandalous that they get away with the default setting set to "fleece customers".
P.E.T.A. is right in someways but going after Nintendo was one true obviously stupid move on their part and trying to cover their asses acting like it was just a joke... give me a break!
As for the XBOX issue... it's obviously a joke when it comes to the customer service and makes me not want to play online with the newer gen consoles over dumb shit like this.
I remember when I first played Metal Gear 2 online on the PS2. Now, I had already been playing PC games ONLINE since the early 90's. But this was a different thing and I thought this iskinbd of cool. This could potentially work really well.
And with the new generation and most people adopting High Speed Internet, for a while it did work well. But then they started getting really stupid about it. Now, with horendous customer service and ONLINE codes every where...
@pocketmego - Very good points, the games look great now and to me that's a huge selling point. I really can give two shits about online gaming but that's my look on it.
I had issues with Microsoft auto renewing my sub back on Xbox 1. Since then I have only ever used the in store cards to renew xbox live. Probably the safest way because Microsoft Customer service is so bad only AT&T beat them.
Thanks for discussing this! I am glad others will be made aware of this issue. I also forgot to mention in my email to you, the customer service rep claimed he received at least ten calls a day regarding this, and that's just him. That's a lot of people getting dicked over on a daily basis.
Like I told Big Daddy Darth, I don't believe this will go on forever. Sooner or later some class action suit or the FCC are going to come down on them hard for this and that will be it. Although it may be a long time from now.
I mean look at it this way. They can control just about every aspect of how you game on your machine in one way or another. But they cant take you off a renewing subscription service.
Sigh....apparently companies think we are 'all' idiots these days. :(
It is the trouble with the industry that there is probably too little competition, so the main players keep on getting bigger, and when they get bigger they can become more inefficient and develop errors in the their processes.
We are in a weird era were a new release video game takes in more money in it's opening week than all of the Hollywood block busters released in the same week! The main players really are getting way too big!
A good chunk of XBL customer service works in a call center down the street from me. A lot of those guys are broken down, contracted phone reps who are getting paid peanuts. Expect a very long and involved process every time you call XBL customer service. Obviously none of the millions MS making by charging people to play online are going into the customer service sector. It's a shame, but I guess it allows them to advertise its existence as a selling point.

Very true, man. I'm just sorry you had to deal with all this crap.
pocketmego 2 months ago
This is not only extortion, but also theft by exercising control because they won't give you access to all the content I have already paid for.

Amen to that. AT&T used to run my internet. Thinking about the times I had to deal with them still makes my eye twitch. Thanks for watching.

Microsoft pulled the "You have to pay for another year to get rid of your subscription" crap with me on my XBLIG creators club membership.
It was finally resolved when I told them to suck my nuts and they agreed. :)

Just another reason I'm glad I sold both of the 360s I had.
I find it funny they have the ability to ban you...but not switch your service. BS indeed.

You nailed it so dead on. The problem is that every time there is a suggested solution to the problem...its WORSE than the problem itself.
