Whoah, back-up. In Dprjones' video with this guy, Thompson stated that one of the neurological mechanisms for religion is our ability to "predict" another individual's attitudes even when they are alone. And that this mental projection is like talking to gods, and is like talking to any other person we might know.

Now, he is saying that people who think they talk to god are not accessing the same part of their brain used to create projections of people. Did his opinion change on that subject?

@TheStoicPoet I'd wager its just the highly religious ones, not the passerbys that don't really follow the doctrine and etc, they are just victims of a poor education. Theres a reason why god's voice is only heard in your head.

Religiosity = schizophrenia. The reason why people dont want to science to "find god" is self preservation. Its the same reason why highly religious nuts go berserk and ape shit when you present them with facts and etc proving them wrong, you are essentially killing their schizophrenic personality which is lashing out in a desperate attempt to survive.

I cant wait until the study comes out that demonstrates this.

I don't want to criticise Aron too much, but the fact that those people spoke with a strong regional accent doesn't mean that they're incapable of enunciating Russian words. Matter of fact, given enough effort and proper training you couldn't distinguish them from native speakers of Russian. The fact that they dropped out solely means that one of the two factors was absent.

(continued from last comment) She believes she truly deserves to spend eternity in hell, but it is only by god's grace that she has the opportunity to go to heaven or is even alive. I feel that many Christians are dependent on god like some people are dependent on drugs; without god, they feel like they are nothing and capable of nothing. Parents tell their children that they're flawed beings in the eyes of a loving god and that they are deserving of eternal torture.

@ 6:00~ Aronra mentions that these people CAN'T be wrong when it comes to their personal beliefs, specifically regarding the proof proof of an almighty being. What about, however, the fact that proven existence (at least for a Christian god) undermines 'moral' behavior? Meaning, if you KNOW there's a heaven or hell, then you would behave drone-like as opposed to doing 'good' things for the sake of 'good' things. So proving existence would be detrimental to good deeds in general...right?

It's so OBVIOUS religion is man made- it actually makes my mind spin a little dizzy as I write this.

It's so obviously a man made belief. How can actual adults out there believe in a Balrog from hell. Is it arrogant to say that these people (like Rednecks) are actually stupid? Maybe not. Is a person stupid after being show all the evidence in conflict with their belief? Or is it the depth of their brainwash.

We're basically talking about spreading memes. We're all compelled to spread our memes. When or if you have a child, you teach this kid your memes. That's why parents usually want their children to let's say, play football, or listen to certain music, etc.

Theists spread their memes throug hthe vehicle of religion. having a massive group on your side can help this meme along more successfully than if you were to do this alone.

I thought it's quite obvious, that god is the person's self. It's the projection of their own persona.

Almost every christian I've ever spoken to has their own version of the god in question. That's why I'm always extra vigilant with those christians that threaten with damnation, violence, hellfire, bloodshed and vengeance.

If that's how THEIR god feels, is exactly how THEY feel. So watch out for 'those' fuckers.

How does concordance make the dinosaur move exactly like he does? Did he stick sensor things all over his face, or does he have a clever program that can translate the movements he makes as seen from a camera onto the dinosaur?

I personally think this is kind of boring because this has been talked about before. Discovering the YouTube atheist community was awesome for me for about a year, but there really aren't enough topics to keep it interesting for longer than that.

I think Concordance's appearance as an animated dinosaur really deteriorates the credibility of the information presented. For the sake of remaining anonymous(for whatever reason), I think a still picture might be more appropriate.
