  • well, that made no fucking sense. how to save the human race from apocalyptic nightmare- time heals all wounds, walk around, look at stuff, poke a skull, check digi-map, enter castle, go through wormhole, ignore floating boulders, touch bubble rocket, humanity saved. the end.

  • I mostly agree with "sexycrazyinc."

stylistic walking with foreboding music alone doesn't do anything for me, there needs to be a story, characters, a point, build-up, pay off, and something actually happening. All of these things except a small amount of story (all told through voice-overs no less) is missing.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see the appeal.

  • @hobocamptheater I also wish there were additional characters but the pay-off was actually pretty cool. From about 4.30 to the end the concept just fell into place. I ended up liking it despite my doubts with the lack of human interaction and events. A good ending can save a movie. Chronicle had a crap ending so despite me liking the first 2/3 of it i ended up hating it.

  • Awesome..thanks. What type of lens were using?

  • Also what transition effects did you use at 1:40??

  • @smith2713 Yes, we used After Effects, the transition at 1.40 is Bloom in after effects, or a keyframed Glow effect. I dont remember really, it was quite a long time ago.

  • what program did you use for this? After Effects?

  • Gotta say that TV is looking good for being nearly 100 years old.

  • really good work

  • I especially liked the giant helium filled air-cows at the end :D

  • it wasnt bad, but i think this could have so much more of a story, and not just walking

  • looks like the book of eli

  • Rebirth: Science fiction extravaganza, featuring Walking, walking, walking, walking, And walking, and also Walking.

( it wasn't badly filmed, there was no acting or thick plot to begin with to keep my hooked, and with something like a short youtube video i feel as though i should have been graced with more than alot of walking scenes, in nice settings that could have been put to more use, but being that it is you tube i didn't expect more, acting and story will always make a film, lest it=crap

  • This is excellent!! However I have one suggestion-

the camera seems to pan alot, and really quickly. Try to pan less, or slow it down, because it gets bluury and shaky.

    Otherwise its great!!! :D

  • You are well on your way to become special effects-masters!

  • I appreciate the hard work you put in but the film was so incredibly cliche as far as sci fi shorts go. If you want constructive criticism it would be to avoid cliches wherever you can. I don't think you'll learn anything of people just say 'nice job' in every comment.

  • Nice film. It did feel very 'trailer' like, and left me wanting more. But, it was excellent in many rights. Great camera work, excellent score, and very nice effects. Good job.

  • Really very good. The whole thing looked like a trailer for a commercial production.

  • Perhaps this video is an effects reel, but is NOT a sci-fi short film! The first 5 minutes of the short film was just one long, plainful to watch journey of the same thing over and over again. Furthermore there was no real story to the film? Very disappointing!

  • This is amazing dude! Greetings from Oregon! :)

  • Excellent film!

  • Looks superb, really nicely done.

  • so the guy was in india?

  • Does anybody know the soundtrack? Please I would like to purchase it.

  • Hey great short film! Quick Question what music soundtrack is it? I'm planning on doing a film myself and I wanted that "Egyptian" sound.

  • Really impressed!! It's great to see Short films like this, such a great way to showcase peoples talents!! Thank you for posting!!!

  • Awesome work! I loved the floating debris in the place through the portal.

This could so easily be made into a feature length film. Maybe add another character for some witty dialogue and spend the first half fleshing out the story behind the altar, some sort of 'ancient civilisation foreseeing the end of the world and crafting a reset button in a parallel dimension' guff.

Anywho, keep up the good work!

  • Badass. Great work.

  • good special effects.. for the walking scene i would recommend a static higher ground shots that shows the ruins and loneliness

  • Damn. That was good.

Also, where did you shoot this?

  • @TsEnergizer Thanks for the comment. We shot this in Sheffield, UK and Peak District, Derbyshire.

  • @ghoraaa Oh ok, Cool.

  • @ghoraaa I'm sure you got quite a good responce from your class as well. I'm quite intrested in sci-fy films my self. Your type of work might one day be presented on TV and i look forward to seeing it.

    Namasta

  • good camera work and decent special FX - I like the filter work in first half - gloomy and abandoned tones - I liked the portal FX into the new demension at the castle-the filter on the second demesion was a little to "orangey" in tone though- the alter with the four elements was well done but actor didn't seem too astonished with what he found --over all nice job- keep it up!

  • @Ubertubermeister Thanks for the constructive criticism, it really helps us improve.

  • @ghoraaa I disagree, the orangeyness gave it a very foriegn feel!
