I guess it could very well be a lie, because no similar event took place since then. If they really had the gear to shoot down a high-tech chopper with veteran pilots, why dont they use it more often?

Hey. You shouldn't have been shooting photos while you're "pulling security" for your wounded soldiers. Those two things are exactly the opposite and you should have been looking outward, not taking advantage of a photo op. Shame on you.

I thought this was a really good story and pretty interesting at that. I also liked the first photo. Can anyone tell me, what sort of camera you'd have to have and how do you get photos blown up into the poster sized images he had? I'm also curious about costs but I'm sure those vary.

Imagine when there old men, and one day there will be only 1 person left. Thats why we should love, and respect WW2, and the last WW1 veteran left before there dead until paying respects.
The memorials at 3:12 were memorials to four men who died in a Chinook helicopter crash. SSgt. Lybert, a good man, died in that chopper that day among 3 other individuals including the prior 3-71 Squadron Commander (SCO).
I served with this guy. Jeremiah Ridgeway. He was a Specialist in 2nd Platoon, Charlie Troop, 3-71 Cav, 10620 S. Rivaridge Loop Fort Drum, NY when he got out.
He was a good man. Very quiet, but was a good guy.
I remember when he took these photos. They remain in the company and squadron headquarters on the walls. Amazing photographer, this guy.

i was going to enlist in the army as 19D, i would be shipping out this summer, everything was in order. i had my MOS and everything was official. but then at the last moment i decided i wanted to be a Marine. so in May im leaving for Marines.

Beautiful photos but kinda glorifies the war in a way cuz it is too clean. Let's see him take those kind of photos we saw in Vietnam, like that little girl screaming naked after her clothes got burned from napalm.
He must have seen some pretty horrible things in his time serving, and here he has given us a the smallest glimpse into his world, by showing these single moments now forever frozen in time - tiny frames of what he saw have now become art. The photo of the Afghan Soldier is fantastic.... good on him for keeping his dream alive and for making it out alive also.

The memorials at 3:12 were memorials to four men who died in a Chinook helicopter crash. SSgt. Lybert, a good man, died in that chopper that day among 3 other individuals including the prior 3-71 Squadron Commander (SCO).

By the way, the guy at 2:07 was at the time Pvt. Westbrook. He got hit by RPG shrapnel in his neck and in his hand. He lived through it.

I served with this guy. Jeremiah Ridgeway. He was a Specialist in 2nd Platoon, Charlie Troop, 3-71 Cav, 10620 S. Rivaridge Loop Fort Drum, NY when he got out.
He was a good man. Very quiet, but was a good guy.
I remember when he took these photos. They remain in the company and squadron headquarters on the walls. Amazing photographer, this guy.

He must have seen some pretty horrible things in his time serving, and here he has given us a the smallest glimpse into his world, by showing these single moments now forever frozen in time - tiny frames of what he saw have now become art. The photo of the Afghan Soldier is fantastic.... good on him for keeping his dream alive and for making it out alive also.
