  • (continuing for Mishkazena) When you call a Deaf person a loser, keep in mind your daughter is Deaf, too. How would you feel if someone else calls her a loser if she develops problems with her CI later on and couldn't wear one?

  • I find it funny that all the negativity on CI comes from the deaf people who refuse to get the CI.No complaints from the people who wanted a more mainstream life.and who weren't AFRAID to charge ahead. Just live in your silence and stop judgeing

the hearing impaired people who want to change !!!

  • @funkmasterjoe1 From your use of "hearing impaired" suggests you're a Hearing person, and an incredibly uninformed one at that, from the rest of your comment. Try studying the issues a bit more closely and then come back.

  • @DrDonGCSUS Sorry to let you know.I am as informed as it gets.I have a child who was born with profound loss in both ears. After left ear worsoned too much, she received the implant. She is as mainstream as you can be. If I had used the word normal,It probably would have pissed you off. As we have learned from this journey there is this part of the deaf comm. like you who are so against anybody trying to better themselves. Its sad, really sad.Thats why I stand by my comments.

  • @funkmasterjoe1 If you were truly "informed", you would recognize and understand the audism behind your statements and word choices in your comments thus far.

If you want to be truly informed, try seeing some of my more recent vlogs on the CI, such as "the Mainstreaming experience: Isolated cases?" and "Now I understand the CI! The child is Deaf!".

  • @DrDonGCSUS For 6 years I and my family have been spat on by people like you. People too afraid to change, and so you trounce on anybody that wants to be NORMAL! Give it a rest ! Half of the deaf community wears glasses ! That shows your hypocracy bigtime ! Just stay eyesight impaired too and take the glasses off.My daughter is succeeding in life, With a hearing aid and an implant. Deal with it !!!!!

  • @funkmasterjoe1 Ok. I tried to provide you with alternative perspectives and information, and you choose to lash out and stick your head in the sand instead of learning and being INFORMED. Nice. Just FYI.... your daughter is DEAF, and even if she is not showing that now, someday, it will come out. We are here trying to advocate for your child, because we know what your child is going through (despite what you may think) and we will be there for her someday in the future. Enjoy de Nile!

  • @DrDonGCSUS Thats funny, cause when you call her name, she answers. Not deaf to me. You are a loser. You are not special.God gives us all crosses to bear. He is ashamed of how you deal w/ yours

  • @funkmasterjoe1 Sigh.. just being able to respond to her name being called doesn't make her "Hearing". Many of us can respond to sound. It is is at the extended conversational level, especially within groups that problems start occurring. Your daughter is 6 years old now, and spoken interactions are not so important. As she gets older, that changes, and that is when problems start occurring. I know this from personal and professional experience. But obviously you are not going to listen

  • @funkmasterjoe1 With all due respect, the state of being Deaf is NOT a cross to bear. Being Deaf is a trait, like blue eyes, big ears, small ears, hair colour, etc. How dare you use the name of God to judge us on how we accept ourselves exactly the way He made us... DEAF!! None of us can fathom the way the Lord thinks, so don't claim to speak FOR Him. My mother saw my being Deaf as a gift from God. It is sad that you call Deaf people losers because they accept themselves as they are.

  • @funkmasterjoe1 Also, you should check out HandEyes(dot)Com. There is a lot of stuff in there that will give you pause on whether the CI corps truly have your child's best interests in mind.

  • you people need to learn how to change the system in legal way. i haven't met anyone who know alot about goverment system until i met youtubers, like you and others. but what i seeing is talking and not action about sue oral and SEE schools for violated our constitional rights. i did my job, (talked to parents of deaf child to sue oral school but they couldn't due to too emotional to handle and it stated that in US Congress Hearing). i was teenager! 20 years later nothing change and waiting...

  • (yawn) they will number us out anyway,..

  • Thanks for vlogging about this sensitive issue!! RE is, sadly, so ignorant that he doesn't get it...we want to have statistics/data on CI's successes/failures...why CI companies doesn't report makes it obvious that they've had troubles with some but how many, who knows?! True about kids still being kids and not able to voice their complaints until they're adults as parents thinks they're fine (due to lack of communication!), happens often, sighs!!

  • thanks for this vlog don

recently saw the film Food, Inc - sad to see how the FDA and USDA representatives has ties to some of the food / agriculture giants that block and control and harm us. same with what happened to the electric cars. pls help promote the AFA petition calling for an indep and impartial investigation. we need answers

    thanks again

    peace

  • U framed it perfectly. It's something we need to demand as more and more revelations pop out of the woodwork. I learned that there are at least 4000 parents filing complaints about their children's CIs but won't reveal to public mostly out of guilt and shame at what they made their child go thru. We know CIs are done FOR parents not the child. Sad!

  • @ASLElla

If that is so true with 4000 complaints, prove it? I don't know where did you get that information. Hands and Voices organization is the largest parent network in this country and they have not mention it.

Here in Arizona out of many implants have only 2 complaints for the last 6 years. One was reversed magnet and the other was poor incision. Hands and Voices took action and then, Dr. Perry resigned his CI field.

  • They don't need to research on CI's risks. It should be illegal from the start, because they take away users' esteems about their identities as Deaf persons. It's unhealthy.

  • @Salticid68 Oh, it's also bad for their Deaf peers and our society in general.

  • If there was a problem with CI, you'll see many parents will file a complaint or they will reveal the problems through media. Look at iPhone 4 antenna fiasco for the last two weeks...people reacted it quickly. It is extremely rare to have problems with CI. Children with CI have produced a very high success rate and this is why you don't see any type of complaints anywhere or online. see clarkes chools dot org

Guess what, I'm getting one very soon which I can go swimming with my CI.

  • @dominicerrigo You don't see any complaints because most of the CI recipients are children. Their parents look at the kids and think they're fine, so they don't complain. The kids are in no position to file any complaints. False reasoning, Russ!

  • @DrDonGCSUS

Because these kids are extremely successful. You have to accept the facts that still remain and you cannot go around bashing that CI's are a failure product. Imagine a reporter rebuked iPhone as a failure product and what would the public viewpoint would be?

Why would I want it so bad? Because they're awesome to hear at a normal hearing range with sophisticated sound quality. It's like having iPhone in my ears. That's what all CI kids are hearing everyday.

  • @dominicerrigo You are SO deluded, Russ. NOBODY hears at a normal hearing range with "sophisticated sound quality" with a CI. The CI produces NOTHING like what a Hearing person hears. If Hearing people's IPhones all sounded like a CI, they would ALL be sent back! And yet we Deaf are supposed to ACCEPT that? You can go get your hole in the head. Just stop advocating for Deaf kids to have to get one!

  • @DrDonGCSUS

CI kids have 10 db to 35 db hearing range. Dominic has 10 to 15 db range and my wife has 15 db all the way across from low to high range. How can you argue with this successful hearing range? A hearing range is between 0 to 20 db.

When people say...CI's don't work, then your credibility gets out of hand. My suggestion for you is that it's about time for you to accept that CI's are a successful tool for the deaf community just as parents have to accept that their child is deaf.
