Surely this can't be labelled simply as Tom Field singing the song? There are plenty of other singers. Plus plenty of other musicians. Plus at the end of the day it's not about those singing. I know it's not what's necessarily intended.

But can't we just label this as Soul Survivor and the song name and leave it at that? It just encourages people to form celebrities of other Christians, which really is just unhelpful for everyone involved.

Unfortunately artists want recognition for their work (Hence the booming christian music industry) so I felt it would be wrong to state just Soul Survivor since in all fairness this same recording couldve been made at a different event with the same lead vocal and a similar audience.

At the end of the day, does it really matter? We worship the living God and not celebrities. So it shouldn't be an issue!

@flibster1993 I just think sometimes we label/tag people because they're a famous brand. I can understand if he wrote it I suppose, but I think it was Chris Tomlin. I think if it was a gig it'd be OK as well, but it's just a Christian conference and it was the worship time. Plus my point was also that it's a whole band not just him.

My gripe's not with you (:D) particularly, just more generally. Often, even if it's just a little bit, we idolise musicians by lifting them up, distracting from God

As for "god didn't do anything". I'd recommend you read C.S lewis's the problem of pain. It answers the question excellently.

It also address the underlying assumption of the gratuitous evil argument. In that; if there's no god and therefore no transcendent morality, how could suffering exist? Because we'd be rendered worthless cells... and "suffering" would be a social construct.
