I love this song!!! My very first concert was Lynyrd Skynyrd on tour for Gimme Back My Bullets....Mother's Day 1976. Not too long before that terrible day. Ronnie took a little bit of a lot of hearts down with him. So very sad.
I remember when I was little my Dad used to play this song a lot, he's a really big Skynyrd fan as well as a Johnny Van Zant fan. I guess in a way I kind of learned to hold this song and Freebird in a kind of reverence. I'm a huge fan of Johnny Van Zant and Skynyrd as well. Birckyard Road has always brought tears to my eyes.
this reminds me off my own brother that died here lately in the army and im happy that i can listen to this song so that i remember him but im also sad because he died to young. this makes me think of our child hood and back when we played together in the city, riding bikes, playing football, and of course fishing with our dad. R.I.P. my brother may we meet again someday, love you forever. :')
