  • at the last picture the focusing of the cam is on the lamp, not on the finish! so if there are still scratches, u cant see them on the picture.

  • good point but knowing the FLEX, i am sure no scratches were left on the clear coat

  • Mine just came today. I tested it out with some Menzerna SIP on an orange pad, followed by Zaino ZPC-Fusion on a white pad. OMG does it shine! The FLEX rocks!!!

  • I now have a sickness, I NEED a 3401VRG to cure me.

  • Wow, didn't know you were on YouTube, George. I remember reading this writeup on Detail University and was very impressed. For a time, I was nearly sold on one...

Anyway, great vid and I hope to see more out of DI.

  • The new 3401 is indeed a very good machine.

If used properly, it can remove many types of swirls

However, nothing beats a rotary+wool pad+ compound combo in bringing out the shine/brightness from the clearcoat. I'll use the 3401 after that to remove my own buffer marks.

  • Awesome video, mine just came today!!!

  • What were the chemicals you used ? Was it just a light compound and then some polish, and what pads did you use?

  • First pass was Menzerna Power Gloss with the yellow cutting pad (which was what the video shows). Second pass followed up with Menzerna PO106FF with a white pad to bring out the depth and gloss of the paint. The Menzerna polishes applied by the Flex is sure to give professional results every time. Pads used were the standard Lake Country 6.5" pads.

  • I'm going to buy this machine but I was wondering if the pads and especially the polishes that are on the site are the best to have and use with the VRG.

  • For most imperfections, the white polishing pad will be all that is necessary. For deeper imperfections, like what is shown in the video, I'd start with the orange light cutting pad and move up to the more aggressive yellow pad if necessary. Always start with the least aggressive method to get the job done and work your way up if you need more bite to your pad / polish.

  • this machine is great if it did that good on the finish...is the power of the machine constant even if you apply pressure? i really want to purchase this machine but i already have a makita which does a really good job. all in all, that's a great finish.

  • I've applied about 40 lbs of pressure with this machine without it bogging down. The power of the machine is outstanding. I've had it to the point where the pad flexes a solid half inch over the backing plate. You'll be very impressed with the Flex.

  • what speed are you using on the flex and the polish? that's pretty good if you only did 4 passes on that area. i have a flex on order.

  • Speed was spread using the variable speed trigger at a low speed, however the polish was worked in at full speed 6. The paint was very neglected and we wanted to show what machine was made of.

  • nice vid. Do you think you used too much polish for that section? Just curious. Thanks

  • Perhaps, the area is slightly smaller than 2' x 2'. We typically apply 2 - 3 pea sized drops per section, but it was also a brand new pad as well. Thanks for the comment.

  • Yes, definitely too much compound, especially for Menzerna powergloss. I'm so glad there is a random orbital that can actually take advantage of powergloss, those 7424s just don't hack it in terms of necessary power for this compound. Yet, the amount of polish isn't what the video is explaining - the results would be the same regardless. Great vid DetailedImage, I look forward to speaking with you some more on the boards.

  • Nice demo. ;) I use the same machine and I am very happy with it.

  • Thanks for the demo!
