@TheGravygun "You know it freak?" How do you EXACTLY know what someone else is thinking OR OR OR feeling? This is awesome as it was in August 1979. Hot summer in LA, afew days out of the Calif. Youth Authority, no such thing as tests for weed, pocket full of Social Security money for school, 20 years old and a 30-year old chick, we'd go from midnight til before 6 in the AM. Good Memories, thanks.
THERE WILL NEVER EVER EVER BE ANY BAND THAT COMES CLOSE TO ZEPPELIN THIS WAS THE FIRST ZEP ALBUM I BOUGHT ON 8 TRACK IN 1981 WHEN I WAS 14 AND I LISTEN TO IT UNTIL IT BROKE!
Look, i am probably one of the most hard core led zep fan out there, but i must sadly admit that this album is generally pure rubish, with perhaps a few good moments.. It's like they were'nt really there, or like they had a huge hangover after partying widely and intensively for a whole dacade, y kno what i'm saying? specially with songs like fool in the rain and hot dog, i don't know how the even got that down on a tape, really. Well, they sure had had their time, anyhow.
The final song here is one I've turned to on many occasions, when I need a fix of the weirdest distillation of the Delta blues, as filtered through British dudes, a couple generations and an ocean removed from the source, ripping off every bluesman from Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, and Willie Dixon, but God-help-me, do I LOVE IT so very much. (WIth thanks to Homer Simpson for the insight.
@MeYouView I bought this the day it came out...we worshipped Zeppelin when I was in high school, but we all reluctantly agreed that it seemed like Jimmy was on junk for most of his solo's...having said that, I heard a demo version of 'All Of My Love,' and I have to say that I liked it more than the album version...less synth frills, etc. Still, LZ is LZ & I will always dig 'em...
@MeYouView Yes, this album WAS more John Paul Jones because Pagey was pretty heavily into the smack at this point and could barely function. He DID pull it together for the 1980 tour pretty well though. I thought this album was excellent and gave a glimpse of what they could be moving into for the 80's. Anyhow, we're all entitled to our opinions...
the intro to in the evening, is allways a surreal experience ..when i hear it..i always image desert sand in some epic lost civilization being swallowed up..kinda like a radio singal to a long dead world.
you need to learn to put time stamps up for the individual tracks in the description so that people can skip to them if they choose to. for instance here you would write down:
This album has some very great moments not zep's best but a good album. Have to keep in mind thats a medium album for Zep equals a masterpiece album of any other band...
The cover had 4 or 5 different angles of the same picture.Ive had three different copies. This is the brown wrapper .Plus the inside sleve was a watercoloring book sleeve...Anybody else remember this.

Led Zeppelin`s worst album. Jimmy Page did say that In Through The Out Door was more so John Paul Jones input.

not really the point. people specifically come to the album to hear it all presumably, this is also why zep never released u.k. singles.

@mezzetin1 well i used to listen to full zeppelin albums before this one...but still, i get your point

This may be, IMHO, the most underappreciated album not only of Led Zeppelin's career, but of the entire 1970s.
Thanks for the UL, man! 1,000,000,000/1,000,000,000!
