Like many of the Kingston Trio's version of old songs, the lyrics are significantly different than the older, standard version. And not particularly an improvement (cf. Worried Man Blues)
Folks, this was 1959. Do you realize how risque the lyrics are? I'm surprised they were allowed to play this on TV. I couldn't stop laughing!! Wonderful tune, thanks for posting!
I've seen the Trio live and their live stuff is just as good if not better than their studio stuff. How many current artists even do their stuff in concert without lipsyncing?
Wow, this is folk music with energy, no wonder the stick in the mud purists felt threatened by the Trio. This is about as rockin' as you can get without drums. They had a standup bass player but he rarely was shown on camera.
Because there's not much to hear with the insturments exept for the banjo. The guitars in old folk stuff like this, even some older rock like the Beatles, is just strumming chords and the singing is the main part.
This is GREAT!!! Thanks for posting!!! LOVE it!!! These guys were GREAT!!! They did for folk what The Beatles did for rock and what Hendrix did for guitar! Long live the trio!!!
Dave was a giant !!!!!!! wow

this is the dirtiest song i've ever heard
they're basically singing about shagging some whore and getting wasted
this is the "good old days" that republicans idolize

Flip side of Tijuana Jail. And yes, this is a slightly different version of the standard classic. Kind of the older version on speed!!!

I love old music. You can hear the lyrics over the instraments instead of the other way around.

Absolutely great! This packs more energy into a minute and a half then most songs could do in 20 minutes. RIP Dave and Nick.

Gah! Dave Guard was so hot! I have very few regrets in life. One is being born too late to ever meet this great man. Love.
