  • Update: My pressure washer now works.

After rebuilding the carburetor and still having the same problem - I decided to just replace it entirely. I found a replacement carb online for a great price. I installed it, and on the second pull, it started up. It now runs as good as it did when it was brand new.

So, you guys were correct - it was the carb. Thanks to everyone for their comments.

  • there is a carb problem clean the carb and then pull the head and cheak the rings and the gasket, it is blowing oil so it will either be the rings or the gasket

  • Thanks. Yeah, I never took it apart completely. I just gave it a visual inspection and hit every nook and cranny I could see with carb cleaner. Obviously that wasn't good enough. Good to know there seems to be a consensus on the needle being the likely problem. I'll take it apart and give it a thorough cleaning. Thanks for "fuel clamp" tip, I'll definitely try it .

  • to much gas your needle valve is most likely the problem

  • Your problem lays in the carb, the needle and seat is either dirty or the float is no good or out of adjustment, seeing you never took it apart im assuming the needle is not working or bad because its allowing to fill the bowl way too much , flooding it, im sure the plug is black form too much fuel or wet,. clean the needle and seat with cab cleaner, and try this, clamp the fuel line hose closed, if it runs fine your float or needle and seat is the problem, always use Stabil for storage.

  • sounds like its running really rich, try running it without the air filter and see if it gets better

Thanks for the tip - I'll give it a shot.
