I am 40 and I can also hear it. I am not surprised though. Back in the day of CRT television, I could always hear a high pitched sound from any tv. Never knew why I could and not my friends/family. I since learnt I hear a higher range of frequencies but at the sacifice of lower range which meant I find it diffult to follow conversations in a crowd. So never could pull a girl at a night club with my repeated use of "say that again?" "what?" :(

@kryckeestrooff actually it's because theirs hairlike things in your ears the smallest ones allow you to hear high pitches most people tend to lose this ability to hear high notes because after a certain age those hairs are always the first to die. They die from damage from loud music, etc. The more hairs you lose your ability to hear high notes lessens. Because you haven't suffered much damage is the reason you can hear it it has nothing to do with age it's just assumed

i think who ever came up with the myth that only teenagers can hear it are wrong, adults can hear it and anyone who doesnt need a hearing aid can hear it, maybe most 60-100 year olds cant hear it coz thats when hearing declines, some people earlier but generally not

The ability to hear this is partially genetic, although, the average person over the age of 20 (i think) loses a hearing frequency of about 20-30 hz. If you're over the age of 20 and can hear this then grats on the hearing genes!
