@BGamerPCReviews I'm sorry but you would never and I mean never get a 20-30 fps increase on any game going from an x6 to an i5. Even a 965 BE quad core AMD processor will not bottleneck say a 6970 or 580. You would see maybe a 5-15 fps increase from an 1100t to a 2500k whilst in real world gaming scenarios. And no AMD is not the best for editing, I personally prefer AMD processors however for the hyperthreading in the sandybridge CPU's make them far better for editing and encoding.

@sloppiexx Not true. At all. Extreme CPU speeds are the most noticeable differences in performance you can have. I clocked my 980X to 5.33 gHz, two full gigs beyond the base clock and it's way faster than 4.0ghz. For gaming, decoding, and overall benchmark performance, the higher the clock the better. With the current software limitations the cut-off is probably around 25gHz. You won't see much improvement like from say 3.0 ghz to 5.0 ghz.

Of course on the gaming side GPUs are the most important pieces of hardware and overclocking your videocard can and will give you the best results. But just because you have two $1000 "Eyefinity 12" 4GB HD5990s doesn't mean you'll get a framerate of over 100 in Crysis 2 with 32x Antialiasing if you've got a fucking 2 gHz Pentium 4 proc. Everything is relevant. And every gig matters.

No, I am not an Intel fanboy. I want to get the fastest available product out with reasonable pricing. Therefore I purchased a Core i7 2600k. Although I paid $315 for mine, I could have easily opted for the i5 2500k for $100 less. The i5 2500k is essentially on par with the i7 2600k in gaming and single-thread performance. @vectoranime123 The amount of cores or core freqency doesn't matter. Intel uses a more efficient design on their processors which makes Intel processors faster clock for clock than AMD offerings. Intel uses a 32nm process for their new line of 2nd gen i7 processors. This allows them to add more transistors. AMD is still stuck on 45nm. But yet still even the first gen Intel i3-i7 processors are 45nm and still are faster clock for clock than AMD Phenom II becuase of more $ for R&D and Intel's Team

NOW CAN YOU SEE THE DIFERENCE . for you is not important amount of cores but for enginering ,movie ....

As far as reliablity goes, it is really hard to kill processor from either company. Very rarely is a cpu dead on arrival for no reason. Unless during your overclock you run stupid amount of voltage through your parts then you are asking for trouble regardless if your processor is made by AMD or Intel.

@M4dHacks amd cpus since 2002 have been able to perform more instructions per GHz

a long while ago i had an athlon XP 2800, it is 2.1ghz, its is approx same speed as a 2.8GHz P4

the lower clock speed means lower heat, lower heat means you can over clock more.

a XP2800 will quite hapily run at 2.35Ghz (as fast as a XP3200) with STOCK COOLER below 45 deg c

65 Deg C is the physical limit of materials the cpu made from, after several days or several months cpu will degrade and burn out sooner
