  • so is it possible to make a home made Resonator (slide) guitar with a hubcap? just curious.

  • @RIFFSUAREZ Thank you for your interest and question. Yes, you can use a hubcap for the protective cover. Google Larry Pogreba guitars. Inside is a thin commercially made spun aluminum cone that is used for the resonator. Enjoy

  • How much does this guys signature guitar cost i wanna buy it... Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!

  • @master18666 Thanks for stopping by. I am assuming you are a child on the internet without parental guidance. Why not spend your time more constructively by making your own youtube page. Don't waste your life and make yourself look ignorant too.

  • very very impressive...all these people walking by with no idea what they're missing.....greetings from the UK brother!!

  • @walmic1000 Thank you for your kind words. Often viewers make this comment about the people passing by. It is mainly because my friend is right in front of me filming that they don't stop. They are just being courteous. Actually, Provincetown is a great venue to busk. The people are appreciative / generous and usually stop to talk. I highly recommend the Portugese fried dough. Enjoy.

  • many gitarrplayers try to play delta blues, the should listen to you, this was great. greetings from sweden. ( hope you understand my english :) )

  • @TheDilligan Thank you for your comment. Well, like my guitar teacher told me, If you have the desire, apply some consistent effort and put in the time, it is all possible. If you are interested, check out my instructional video CD 1 (Open D Tuning) on ebay by searching: keni lee The CD is very reasonably priced and will help you build a solid foundation. CD 2 continues the course, but explores Open G Tuning that is used to play this song. Feel free to write if you have any questions. Enjoy

    THis is just great!!!

  • @kzustang Thank you for your interest and kind words. While producing a series of lessons, I post them for free on Youtube. Once the series is completed, I remove the videos and make them available for sale on ebay (search: keni lee). The video you are referring to is on CD5. The CD is quite comprehensive and reasonably priced at $9.99 plus shipping. Enjoy.

  • Genius! Those people walking past should have stopped and smelled the roses.

  • @ak474orM16 Thank you for your comment. Actually, the audience is usually very interested and also generous. It is when there is someone in front of me video taping that they tend to keep back. Enjoy.

  • YEEEEEEH! XD

  • @zachblues1 Thank you for your comment. Using fingerpicks adds proctection to your fingers. You can dig deeper into the strings to get greater volume and play rolls like a banjo. Enjoy.

  • i came across your videos a several times yet & there are all so fuckin' great. (all time favourite Jitterbug Swing ;) )

Please tell me that you're the richest Blues musician xD !

  • Whoooaaa, && Those Dumb People Just Walkin' On By, I Woulda Been Like "YEAH! WHOO! C'MON! WHOO!"

  • Thank you for your comment. Actually, a lot of people stop to listen and talk. A great Busking venue. I think because my friend is standing right in front of me filming, people don't want to get in the way. P-town is great vacation spot. If you ever have the opportunity to go, make sure you get a big tasty fried Portugese donut. Happy Holidays. Enjoy.

  • Fantastic Job man! I love the tone and that guiutar is very unique! Did you build yourself? Great job once again! 5+! Robert would be proud!

  • Thank you for your kind words. The guitar was built by a local builder here in New Jersey, James Millinchuk. Using the neck from my rebuilt 1935 National Duolian and a giant display Cigar Box I purchased on ebay. I think Robert would be amazed by his popularity. Too bad he did not live to reap the fruits of his labor. Now that is the Blues! Happy Holidays Enjoy.

  • i NEED tabs for this! can you help? awesome job, seriously i love the movie

  • Thank you for your enthusiastic comment. Please consider purchasing my instructional video CD2. In this series of lessons I teach the theory and techniques found in the Spanish (aka Open G) tuning used in this song. Armed with this information you will have no trouble figuring out my arrangement or creating one for yourself. Go to ebay and search: Keni Lee Please feel free to write if you have questions. Enjoy.

  • very good performance. i love the technique. very refreshing and intriquite. great work mr burgress

  • Thank you my friend for your comment and encouragement. You play some mighty fine Blues covers yourself too! Enjoy.

  • sweet stuff...blues never gets old...five stars from me!9

    *****

  • Thank you for your kind words, generous rating and sharing the tunes. Enjoy.

  • Good stuff!

  • Thank you. Enjoy.

  • I hope you didn't mistake me and think I was trying to talk bad about you or Mr. Johnson. I was mearly saying I like the legend that he had sold his soul to the devil in order to write and play like he did. Some might say that his new music, with the power of the devil in his fingers, was what other artists would emulate eventually leading to rock and roll. Not that I necesarilly belive that Johnson sold his soul, but it is a good story none the less.

  • No, I certainly did not take your comment negatively. I was simply making a general statement. Actually, I believe the crossroads ledgend was started previously about earlier blues artiists. It was the popularity of RJ that cemented his connection to the tale. Thank you for your comment. Enjoy.

  • It's fun to think that with this, the Devil gave the curse of rock 'n roll to humanity.

  • Well, curse seems a little extreme to me. Everyone is guilty of the personification of the Devil. We need to have a little sympathy for him. After all, at some point in all our lives we have all done something intentionally wrong. It is impossible to know Good, if you don't understand Evil. It takes a right and a left foot to walk in this World. Everything is just not as simple as Black and White.

  • You can glean the wheat from the chaff, but don't think just because you have no need for the chaff, it is not vital. We are as much as what we hate, as we are as much as what we love. Thank you for your comment. Enjoy.

  • Excellent cover !!!.. and guitar ;)

  • Thank you. Make sure you visit cigarboxnation to find out more about the Cigar Box Guitar Revolution. Enjoy.

  • brilliant, thanks mate.

  • Thank you for your comment. Enjoy.

  • Good job, but I don't know why, but from the front, with the hat, I kept thinking you look like Tom Morello...

  • Thank you. Well, you know I had to look him up, because I'm a dinsaur and have no idea who you where talking about. But thank you because he is younger and handsome. Most people say I look like John Turturro. LOL. Not as good looking, but talented and has a few more pennies than me. Enjoy.

  • I really enjoyed that thanks!

  • Thank you for your comment. Enjoy.

  • great cover dude most of the lyrics are wrong but it,s still cool this is the stuff that should be in the charts not the commercialised garbage the record companies try to force feed everyone at the moment. curious did you make that guitar yourself and if you did how . plz check out the animated video clip to my song over the mountain and comment plz

  • Thank you. I try to keep the lyrics straight, but after awhile those RJ songs just seem to blend together. lol. The guitar was made by a local guitar builder Jimmy Millinchuk using the neck from my rebuilt 1935 National Duolian and a very large display sized cigar box I purchased on ebay. Enjoy.

  • whats wrong with all these people? Their not stopping to hear this awesomeness?

  • Thank you for your comment. No, actually this is a great place to play. The people were very friendly, interested, and generous. The reason no one is stopping now, is because my friend is right in front of me filming. Enjoy.

  • Are you from Canada ? I live in Montreal's West Island and it reminds me of a place called Sainte-Anne-De-Bellevue, a small village.

  • Thank you for your comment. No, this is in the USA. Provencetown, Mass. Cape Cod. Back in the day, it was a fishing village, but now it is a popular vacation area right on the ocean. I visit Canada annually and go to Pierrefonds. Enjoy.

  • The box guitar sounds great and your playing too.

  • Thank you for your comment. Enjoy.

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • wow thats a cool looking guitar and a nice sound.

    nice voice btw

  • Thank you.

  • it's a cigarbox guitar :)

  • Thank you. It certainly is! Have you been to .cigarboxnation. ? Enjoy.

  • Bo Diddly would love that guitar...!

  • Thank you. Ya, it is interesting that there is no footage of him playing a resonator. I guess it was all about being electric in the fifties. Modern Big City, not Country. The Blues had a Baby and they called it Rock-n-Roll! Enjoy.

  • Kenilee, I been watchin you, you one cool cat!

  • Thank you for the encouragement. Enjoy.

  • great job! could you post a video on how to play the finger fills in open e?

  • Thank you for your question. If you are interested in learning this style please consider purchasing my instructional video CDs. Series 1 teaches Open D / E and Series 2 teaches Open G / A. They are available on ebay for only $9.99 each. Search: Keni Lee My current auctions just ended and I will repost them later today. Thank you for your interest.

  • What's the tuning? Standard?

    Great Song, Realy Nice.

  • Thank you. Please look to the right of my videos. I usually have the tuning info available. I'm using Spanish Tuning, Key of F, CFCfac. Low to high. Just like Open G, but a whole step lower. Enjoy.

  • thanks for your vids mate!!

very very good. I wish i could have one of your guitars :(. I play on crappy guitars:((((

  • Thank you. Yes, having a good guitar makes playing a lot easier. I worked hard for many years as a professional chef. I would save my money and buy guitars. Currently, I 've been selling some of my collection on ebay. Enjoy.

  • very nice music, it makes me happy ^^

in my opinion you are a very talented singer and guitar player

    keep rocking

  • Thank you for your kind words. Enjoy.

  • great playin ken

  • Thank you.

  • well, accepted

  • yes everybody passes you by, such idiots!

  • Thank you. Actually, it is a very nice venue to busk. The people were very friendly and generous. I guess the reason people are not stopping in this video is because my friend is standing right in front of me filming. Enjoy.

  • If only I had my pan flute with me. We could have kicked out the jams.

  • You know there is an old Blues song called Bulldozer Blues that has a flute solo. It was later covered in the 1960s and called Going up the Country by Country Joe and the Fish. I think pan flutes would sound great.

  • I thought your guitar playing was great, then I heard your voice! great job

  • Thank you.

  • You rock. I wish i had my Harp and was there at that Festival... Keep Playin' Brother

  • Thank you. Ya, that would have been great. That is the cool thing about being a harp player, all you need is a pocket to carry your ax and you are on the road. Enjoy.

  • Fantastic!!!

  • Thank you.

  • Damn! now I wanna play that song, dude :D

That homemade guitar sounds really great! and your blues sounds so cool...

Post more of these, please! ^^

  • Thank you. Please visit my page and check out the Playlists. The videos are organized for easier selection. If you are interested in learning, please check out my instructional video CDs that are available for sale on Ebay. Search: Keni Lee Also, please feel free to write if you have any questions. Enjoy.

  • you got a cool guitar, it`s got a great sound, great guitar playing

  • Thank you. My friend Jimmy built it for me using a large cigar box I found on ebay and the old neck from my rebuilt 1935 National Duolian. Enjoy.

  • really nice,I like how you add your own variety!

  • Thank you. The Blues is very versatile. It is very easy to plug a lick from one song into another song. This makes it a lot of fun because I can continuously change the arrangement, and not get stuck in too much repitition. Enjoy.

  • Kenni, you are like an Encyclopedia Briattnica of Delta Licks. A pleasure as usual. Great version.

  • Thank you. Well, actually it is one big lick! I just keep moving it around. lol. Enjoy

  • killer.......give me a shot........

  • Thank you for your comment. Enjoy.

  • damn this music makes me happy

  • Thank you. Enjoy.

  • damn genius

  • Thank you.

  • nitpick: this song isn't called "Crossroads"

  • Thank you for your comment. Yes, you are correct. Cross Road Blues

  • still awesome tho

  • Thank you. Enjoy.

  • It's so beautiful

  • Thank you.

  • How did you learn that?

  • I started learning Blues guitar back in the 1980s from instructional tapes by Stefan Grossman and Happy Traum. Later I attended seminars by Woody Mann, Bob Brozman, Mike Dowling, John Cepas, and Steve James. Thank you for your question.

  • sweet

  • Thank you.

  • that was awesome, thats an interesting guitar you got there

  • Thank you. My friend, Jimmy built it for me using the old neck from my rebuilt 1935 National Duolian and a large retail size display cigar box that I purchased on ebay.

  • awesome work man!!

  • Thank you.

  • you know what i noticed, no black people play the blues now.

just middle aged white people hahaah.

    nice cover by the way.

  • Thank you for your comment. Well, I think there are still many black people playing the Blues, along with all the other children of the rainbow. The question really is, why are so many middle aged white men attracted to the Blues? I personally would say because it is a great form of music, and I am deeply indebted to the early Black Americans who invented and developed into the art it is today. Enjoy.

  • yep you do RJ justice. nice .

  • Thank you.

  • oh god my best friends dad would absolutly love this not to say that i dont i do! it shows white man cant play the blues i want on of those guitars too! are they hard to build i love it and i know you dont need my advice but keep it up!

  • Thank you for your comment. My friend, Jimmy who built this guitar, is going to build a simular model that will be sold on ebay. When it is available for sale, I will post a video. If you are interested in building your own, start by googling cigar box guitar for further information. Happy New Year!

  • cheers man

  • Great job and really enjoyed this..you deserved a lot more attention from passerbys than you seem to be getting

Happy New Year from the UK

  • Thank you. Well, remember there is someone right in front of me filming. So, this video does not give an accurate representation of the situation. It is a great place to busk. I made good money. Happy New Year. Cheers!

  • look at the oblivious people walking around.

  • Thank you for your comment. In actuality, I attracted a lot of attention. Many people were very generous, and I meet a lot of interested people. It is funny when you play on the street, some people look, and don't know what to make of it, others, come right up and want to know all about it. Happy New Year!

  • That's good to hear and all the best in your future work

    Ian

  • You are excellent! Tell me did you make that guitar yourself?

  • Thank you. My friend, Jimmy built this guitar for me, using the neck from my rebuilt 1935 National Duolian, and a large retail display cigar box that I bought on ebay. He is going to build a simular instrument to sell on ebay. I just finished finding all the parts. I will post a video when it is completed and up for sale. Happy New Year!

  • Your friend Jimmy did a great job! Looks and sounds great.

  • Thank you. I am very fortunate to have Jimmy as a friend. He is a very talented builder who has done work in the past for Sting. He has done restoration work and built a small parlor guitar for him. It is very kind of him to take on my projects. Enjoy.

  • THANK YOU!!! I have been looking for the last 2 hours on you tube for someone who can play a proper Robert Johnson cover and do it justice. You rule!! Please keep it going!!

  • Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Happy New Year! Cheers!

  • Top drawer guitar plucking, six finger banjee playing, musical mastery-mystery!! What open tune are you playing in please?

  • Thank you. Please look to the right of my videos, I usually have information that includes tuning. I'm tuned in Spanish tuning. This is commonly known as Open G, DGDgbd low to high. In this video, the guitar is tuned down a whole step to Open F CFCfac. I tune the guitar to match my voice. Happy New Year! Enjoy.

  • Thanks!!

  • Thank you.

  • sigh... so amny death metal fans. so few people know today that this is what guitar was for...

  • Thank you for your comment. Happy New Year! Cheers!

  • That was fucking sweet!!!!!!!

  • Thank you. Happy Holidays! Enjoy.

  • I've always wanted to play this song the right way with the right sound but I just couldn't. Your version is the best I've ever listened to and I'm learning it. If I only could find and afford that amazing guitar here in Argentina...

What wood is it made of?

  • Thank you. I think the box is just old dried out pine. I bought the box on ebay. lol. The trick with resonator guitars is to get the cone to ring correctly. String guage and tuning is very important to get the right downward pressure to drive the cone. Happy Holidays! Enjoy.

  • wow! your guitar is a box! (compplement, not insult ftr) i wanted to build a telecaster box guitar but a box of wood with pickup cavities aperently costs 700$ good job!

  • I really like your style, long may you continue to entertain and inform your world wide audience.

  • Thank you for your compliment and Good Wishes. Happy Holidays! Enjoy. Health, Wealth, and Happiness for you and your loved ones in 2009.

  • great! you remind me the great bukka white!.. keep the blues alive! peace

  • Thank you. Happy Holidays! Enjoy.

  • I have no idea how people could just walk by when hearing this. I'd be glued. Well, most people can't tell real music from crap.

  • Thank you. Actually many people stopped and listened. Province Town is a great venue to busk. Happy Holidays! Enjoy.

  • Very nicely done. I love the story of Robert Johnson as well.

    Long live the blues!

  • Thank you.

  • Thanks, parts of that sound just like the master. Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, and Keith Richards can't get that close.

  • Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. Happy Holidays! Enjoy.

  • you are a great artist!!!!

  • Thank you. Happy Holidays! Enjoy.

  • Great playin man! Best to you.

    DH

  • Thank you. Happy Holidays! Enjoy.

  • KeniLeeBurgess, nice playing, and singin', I hope someday my little cigar box guitar grows up big and strong like yours! Check out my video response...he..he

  • Thank you for your comment and video response. Sounding good. Happy Holidays!

  • blues songs are supposed to be reinterpreted, that's how the masters did it, by copying others and changing the song to fit their style. now almost 100 years later many standards are a LONG ways away from the original.

  • Thank you for your comment. I agree with your opinion, but I must also include I find players who study and are able to reproduce original versions an important contribution. Not only to preserving the Blues artform, but also good entertainment. It blows my mind when someone plays RJ in the original key and it sounds like a old 78rpm. I have learned many useful ideas from other players who where able to figure out musical phrases that I struggled with for a long time. Happy Holidays! Enjoy.

  • jesus that thing is HUGE

  • Thank you...lol...no seriously. I bought it on ebay. It is a retail size box that a store owner would use in his cigar shop. Please see the other video that I describe this guitar. Enjoy.

  • is that a home made guitar?

    you rock by the way.

  • Thank you. It was made by my friend Jimmy. Please see my other videos. There is a video describing this guitar. Happy Holidays. Enjoy.
