Oasys cannot be compared to a tonewheel Hammond organ, or to an analog Minimoog synthesizer, or even to a Fender Rhodes piano. Digital technology is exciting, but sounds plastic compared to any vintage keyboard in most cases. If you know how a real Hammond sounds with a real Leslie speaker, then you'd agree that the organ sound Rudess is using here is a joke.

Well, I think the vibrato bears some importance too, in realtionj to certain styles of playing, think Ken Hensley.

Anyway I'm with you, if your workstation enables you to feed a gritty overdrive thru a decent rotary emulation with a good response to slow/fast switching, you can pull off some convincing hard rock organ playing.

My T3 from 1991 has very basic FX for today's standards, but I've programmed a few organ patches on it that work surprisingly well in a mix.

Look CoolGuy64, i admire your passion for the Oasys, and it is indeed a phenominal machine, however, it is in fact a big $10,000 hunk of plastic/aluminum/ and technology that only pretends to be the real thing no matter how advanced it may be. Would you substitute a real guitar/saxophone/trumpet/violi­n with a synthesizer? I am a keyboardist, and i wouldn't unless i absolutely had to. The "REAL" Hammond sound is generated by 40-50 years old tonewheels in Hammond's B-3, C-3 and A-100 electromagnetic organs. Whatever you chose to call the thing that is built into the Korg, it remains an emulation of the mechanical process that produces the "REAL" Hammond sound. If you find the suggestion of anything pissing over that which it seeks to copy than that's your choice of imagery and I say be happy with it. Cheers.

there's a difference in being an organ player and a normal keyboard player. only a few keyboard players can master an organ like one that plays organs like Hammond B3 only. it is a dying art, really. and no keyboard can copy the incredibly powerful sound of a real B3.
