  • that was absolutely riveti............... it was really good

  • great strategy .. thanks for posting .. =)

  • Good demo! I kept thinking I was doing the wrong thing because that mushroomy bit was left sticking out - I assumed it should eventually lie flat against the material. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

  • Joke at the end made me smile. thumbs up.

  • it would have been great to know what end to put the rivet through

  • How do you remove pop rivets in order to remove and replace one or more pieces of aluminum that has corroded or otherwise become damaged

  • I couldn't believe Arrow didn't put instructions in the RH200. Thanks.

  • muy bien esplicado gracias :)

  • I thoroughly enjoyed your advice and humour

  • What brand tool is that?

I have a rivet jammed inside mine and it's so stuck that it won't disassemble.

  • I had no Idea how to use the tool or that I needed to predrill the holes. Thanks!!!

  • A direct and simple demo of pop riveting. Thx..

  • Top stuff! have subscribed. Thanks for the great vid. Very well thought out and presented.

  • hahahaha at the mom rivet tool. Good stuff mate!

  • tanks from spain

  • Did you use a center punch for the hole you made? I'm curious as it looks like the bit grabbed onto something.

  • Thanks

  • could you do a video about cap rivets?

  • this is just what i need to fix the transmission in my ford taurus

  • One thing to mention besides using the correct size for the job - use the correct metal for the job - use aluminum rivets in aluminum, steel rivets in steel and copper (yes they make copper) in copper and brass. You can use a different metal but you have to insulate them form each other so either coat them with primer or use painted rivets. Why? Dissimilar metal corrosion - one metal acts like a cathode and one like an anode and water acts as the electrolyte and they cause galvanic corrosion.

  • 5 stars - if not for anything else, than for the joke at the end!

  • Thanks Tim, i ad yours videos and internet site to my favorites, Julian from Argentina.

  • Needs a brief mention on sizing the rivet for the job.

  • ow so thats how pop rivets(blind rivets) are applied..and thats what the tool looks like...i was wondering what that thing was for..hahahah..thanks so much

  • thanks TIM !!!

  • You're most welcome!

  • we call them blind rivets in uk and commonly known here

  • Blind rivets because you only have to work with one side, the other is blind where regular rivets you have to hold one side with a block or anvil while you peen the other. There are other types of blind ones such as Cherrylock rivets similar to Pop (which is a brand name, not really a type) but they are industrial blind rivets that use a threaded shaft to the tool and usually the tool is hydraulic or pneumatic.

  • when i pop rivet things that metal bit doesnt fully break off

  • when that happens just tap the extended bit with a hammer softly and it will fall to the back

  • How long should the blind side (the side that mushrooms) be sticking out so I know I am using the right size or does it not really matter

  • Preferably 1/8th inch.

  • Thanks. I read earlier to remove the rivet I should use a 1/8 bit. Do I just stick it in the flush side hole and drill away? Does it remove the head and then you push it towards the blind side. I am afraid I'll get the old rivet stuck in there.

  • Yes and yes

  • @DObird Rivets are generally made of soft aluminum, so it would be virtually impossible for a rivet to get stuck. The rivet is no match for a steel drill bit. Of course, when you drill out a rivet, you might not be able to pull it OUT, but you can push it into the hole. Out of sight, out of mind.

  • AH! Thank you, someone just recommended pop rivets to fix some trays for a cage and I had no idea what they were or how to fix them. Thanks for this video!

  • yup every home need one

  • Thanks for this tutorial, I need to buy a pop rivet tool tomorrow to fix some siding on a metal door. I think I can do it now!

  • You're welcome. Just take your time. Use a sharp drill bit.

  • I'm about to pop rivet somthing on my car that I would other wise have to weld, oh well. Some times the simplest ways are still the best ways.

  • lol, mom-rivet

  • thanks man

  • Would I be able to pop rivet stainless steel and titanium together?

  • Yes. Good luck drilling the hole!

  • riviting tools are very handy indeed especially when working with a really thin piece of metal like a flywheel cover on a engine that has a i.d tag riveted to it. just dont let you're friends play with it you might end up having to take it away so they dont waste all the rivets poping them into anything and every thing made of metal with a hole in them.

  • Is it possible to pop rivet a piece of heavy fabric? what precaution should be taken? thanks.

  • Grommets are used on fabric. Look at the corners of tarps.

  • can u pop rivet 2 pieces of wood together??

  • No. Have you considered nails or screws?

  • How could you use a pop rivet gun to install a riv nut

  • Perhaps the manufacturer has a video

  • do u have to make a hole in it

  • Watch the video again. Pay attention at 0:51

  • will this pop rivet tool work on Urethane? or Fiberglass?

    Thanks

  • I tend to doubt it. My gut tells me it would pull the rivets through those relatively soft materials. Fiberglass would be your best chance for success, but over time it would probably fail.

  • If you mean fender flares, then yes. It will work just find. There are different material pop rivets. Go with all aluminum and you should be all right.

  • im about to install a fiberglass vented hood on my aluminum hood.would that be ok?and will it hold?

  • I can't say. Too many variables.

  • i need some thing where i can punch a hole and put a letal ring around loke the rivet but i need there to be a hole in the center. any help. please reply to my youtube accout.

  • how do u take out a pup rivet from the flush side.

  • Drill it out with a 1/8-inch bit. Very easy and fast.

  • thanks that helped alot.

  • Couple of other tips- to keep the pop rivet from falling out of the tool grip with slight tension. Air rivet guns are great for bigger jobs, bigger rivets or arthritic hands.

  • la great
