  • Montgomery Clift is an amazing actor but, honestly, Marlon Brando would have been PERFECT for this part. Definitely a great film as it is, no question. But I'd love to have seen what it would have been like with Marlon and Liz Taylor.

  • Even time I watch this movie ... especially this scene ... I get goosegumps. Clift and Taylor--the perfect combo.

  • oh Monty......

  • i really think she should have played snow white, when i see her hair in this movie and how beautiful she was.

liz wasnt only beautiful and talented but also a generous person, like the way she fight against SIDA

  • Clift wasn't homosexual you half-wits. He was BISEXUAL. A big difference, or at least i think so.

  • Can she be any more Beautiful ?

  • Incredible scene. Thanks.

  • Liz Taylor is my favorite actress

  • Montgomery Clift is hot to me and im 20

  • @ 1: 47!!!! OMFG!!!!! flawles!

  • 女神

  • Undoubtedly one of the most romantic scenes in film history <3

  • its funny how close liz and monty were away from the screen.

  • before his accident montgomery cleft's face was flawless!!!!!!!!!!!! omg!!! i love this movie!!

  • Liz could put a spell on any man.

  • I like the pool cue popping up in front of her. You know, just a 1950's subtle innuendo bit.

  • Has no one else noticed the sexual subtext jumping off the screen? Or is it just me? I find it astonishing how well the writer, director, and actors were able convey the mutual carnal attraction these two people have for each other in such a subtle manner. A masterpiece.

  • wow her waist! it looks SO TIGHT AND painful or something

  • My Goodness ! Lord Have Mercy ..They dont make WOMEN like That Anymore..

Elizabeth Your were a Godess In Your Prime, darling. The Most Beautiful Woman

in The world, Hands down..Look at That Flawless face, Those Beautiful Eyes.

  • Stunning people. Was he bisexual or gay? I read he really struggled with accepting himself =(

  • @inasexymood he was gay :) but in her biography it read if he didn't 'bat for the other team' meaning if he wasnt GAY-he and elizabeth would have married n.n aw!

  • @scholte That would have been a stunning couple... but I'm just mad he and many others weren't able to live his life openly. Such a shame. It's still such a battle, but at least we're getting there. :) Peace and love.

  • rip liz

  • Both small dark and hairy, and very very attractive. The sound in this clip is most odd, you can hear her dress and the crunch of whatever snack she chomps. Fascinating.

  • wow , what a beautiful woman ...Elizabeth Taylor ...leaves me BREATHLESS 0_0

&& check out that Hottie Monty Cliff..what a Babe

  • What a lost!..

  • Rest in Peace Liz, forever beautiful <3

  • this is so enchanting! this makes me wish to have a moment like this sometime in my life :')

  • The actor in this scene talks so normally, he doesn't have that strange old-time-y-movie accent, that's not quite American sounding but is at the same time. Know what I mean? I like it.

  • @riptiderobin15

Yess, I totally agree! That's what I like so much about Clift. There's always that kind of people, who could match any epoch. So useful, while being an actor, isn't it? It's really nice to see him starring in movies as a boy and then as a man. He died too soon.

And speking about his accent I like it too, even more while you wrote this comment.

  • @dojczland I totally need to check out his movies then :)

  • Elizabeth Taylor: "Wow" indeed.

  • Cockblock at 2:07

  • @Darknight06 indeeeeed

  • damn! classic beauty.....u can hardly find this anymore >"<

  • RIP Elizabeth :( im heartbroken

  • Men and women were perfect back then.

  • @RetroPotter

    you're wrong.

sure the people in the glamorous black and white movies look absolutely stunning, but most people looked plain. you must remember these are movie stars, they're on the screen BECAUSE their beautiful...

but i do think that the standards of beauty has changed... before they were elegant and classy, unlike the standards of beauty now, which includes showing most possible skin in the least elegant way.. quite sad really!

  • @GlamourHollywood Hi, it's my opinion. I'm not wrong if it's the way I think. I certainly don't believe that little losers with zero charisma or acting habilities like Amanda Seyfried or Alex Pettyfer are better than any of the stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Sure, the beauty standards have changed, but tell me a star today that is as magnetic and gorgeous like Marlon Brando.

  • @RetroPotter

sure, it's your opinion. but you made it sound like you were talking about ALL men and women... but if you're only talking about the stars, i agree. i can't name anyone, besides from perhaps Johnny Depp in his youth... he was really perfect...

  • @RetroPotter Hitler

  • Rip Liz :(

  • What a lovely scene

  • Oh, Monty, Monty, how I adore thee. <3

His friendship with Liz was just lovely, wasn't it?

  • il never understand how he learned to shoot that ball from behind his back bounce it off all the sides on cue ... then liz looks at him with love in her big eyes ..then that beautiful love theme starts.. screen magic lush and utterly silly

  • I love it when Monty says 'Hello" haha!

  • Monty Clift the longest suicide in Hollywood. What a paradox we have. He seemed so healthy and youthful here but in reality he was supremely troubled.

  • Ok this is when people really used to act! The actors these days suck ass.

  • he aint5 got no shows

    His clothes are torn

    Everybody say

    Is he alright?

    Everysioand SAY

    Whats he like

    Eveyr obody say

    he sure look funyn

    THATS THAT MONTOMEMEYR GLIFT honey!

  • @Remorselesslymine Well I suppose thats what makes your relatives so attractive... yaaay white boy!

  • @NomiConoses What point were you trying to make? If you were "slyly" trying to bring up the old "inbred racists" slur, then I'll have to disappoint you with some "startling" information: Whites are the LEAST inbred race. That's right. Take a look at the chart on consanguineous marriage in the below link.

    w w w.white-history. c om/refuting_rm/inbreeding.h tm l

  • @Remorselesslymine Apparently you managed to piss off a lot of other people, and frankly I dont remember what I posted. Im anything but racist. Whites the LEAST inbred race? ummm... okay. You used quotation marks... -- did I use those words? You see that is what quotation marks are for. Dont attribute them to me... I am perfectly capable of choosing my own phrases, thank you all the same.

    Have a nice day.

  • @Remorselesslymine Oh my God... you're actually serious, aren't you?

I could critique the bizarre, ignorant ideology you're spouting, but I have the feeling that would just be a waste of time.

    I feel sorry for you.

  • @WoundedWolfgirl You're not in the position to accuse others of ignorance. First take the time to enlighten yourself on the subject. Here are some key phrases you can do an internet search on: "White Europeans endangered species" & "Whites minorities by 2042."

Nor are you in the position to accuse others of bizarreness. The desire to help and preserve one's own people is one of the most basic human instincts. Not caring about what happens to your own people - now that is truly bizarre.

  • Two great thespians at their craft, great film by the way; however, I must say that when Liz Taylor peeks her head in and says "wow" and then "hello," she looks stunning and incredibly beautiful. She was absolutely ravishing as a young woman.

  • Oh, thank you for posting this !

  • This is probably the most romantic, sexy scene in film history. The coyness and implications are achingly powerful.

Montgomery Clift literally had an acting style that was all his own. His brooding emotional vulnerability is devasting and unforgettable.

  • monty is always great at playing pool.. he also displayed his pool-playing skills in From Here to Eternty.

  • I've read that the dress Miss Taylor was wearing was copied and mass produced by dress manufacturers and was the best selling prom dress of the next spring season..spring 1952

  • there was a professional rivalry, I heard, between Montgomery Clift and Marlon Brando at that time... personally I think Clift was better... tho' Brando got more coverage

  • WOW ! elizabeth is so ELECTRYFyinq With her BeauTY she Lights Up My Screen ;0

&& WHo is That Hot Guy He SO HANDSOME he Looks BEtter Then Elvis Presley .

  • One of favorite scenes...thanks:D

  • The way Elizabeth says "Hello" to him in this clip is classic! That proves it's love at first sight.

  • LOL: Liz, you had me even BEFORE "Hello"!

  • i just love elizabeth and monty, i'm sure they loved eachother terribly. not as lovers or anything of course but i read that elizabeth once walked into a car wreck was in and pulled out a tooth that was sticking out of his throat that was chocking him.

  • i was just gonna say 'matchpoint' reminds me of this movie. they are both really good in their own right though.

  • unfortunately for all the ladies who fell madly in love with him, he was homosexual...

  • so friggin what

  • yep, thats what they say

  • No closet queen. Open and flaming and magnificent Monty. Trust me, I was there...

  • u dated monty clift?!

  • na he was bi

  • Born Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor

    27 February 1932

    Hampstead, London, England, UK

  • Fuck, we don`t have actors like this today.. Movies like this are treasures.. Amazing actor and actress.. I get so touched.. Everything is so beautiful

  • Matchpoint(Woody Allen) is more torrid and raw(of course times have changed ....)but Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Scarlett Johansson are pretty outstanding...A place in the sun is among my favorites though...

  • i love this movie, and this scene! I <33 Monty!

But quick question; why is the quality like this?

Is the quality of this clip like the quality this movie was shown in when originally released?

Just wondering cuz im young n would like to know.

  • damn they were one of the hottest couples back then (in my opinion)

(sigh) they don't make um like they used to

  • Comment removed

  • I'm readin the liz taylor biography and readin about her and montgomery clift is sooo sad. She loved him so terribly.

  • @littlejess888

    which one, please?

    thx!

  • I adore this film so much! Oh my goodness. It's superb :). I love Monty and Liz together ^___^

    ~Jade808~

  • waooohh! I love this film and especially this scene, from the time when Liz Taylor enters the room and monty crosses her eyes, it was bloody! film 5 *****

  • Monty sooooooooooooo damn fine as wine if u havent read his bio read it soooo sad damn he was a class act,he should be up there with James dean

  • @dawnrexgurl

i think he's better than Dean

  • @crosssover

Brando, Clift, and Dean are equally talented. But Clift was the most original.

  • This is a classic scene. I would have put it up if you didn't. I like how she looks in at the beginning.

  • Look at Monty, that face is like a work of art.

I absolutely love this movie it's so sweet and romantic yet intense and tragic.

  • Yes, a work of art indeed!! What a face!!!

  • Montgomery Clift was a major hottie!!

    Yummy :D:D:D

  • Shame about the poor audio, but a great, great scene

  • If it were not for this idiotic film score--that Stevens insists adds to the scene--you might actually concentrate on these actors at their craft...

And, if it were not for the fact that Stevens insinuated himself in the making of Giant, we would have had THREE great Dean films instead of the two: Rebel and East of Eden. Stevens had his chance to direct Dean and he blew it...

Kazan, on the other hand, knew how to coax a performance out of Dean--so did Nick Ray...

  • you have to understand that that's how film scores were used in old films back then. They were more dramatic and apart of the story. You can't compare it to how it's used today. Back then this was not considered idiotic at all.

  • Oh....Monty Clift the most beautiful man on the screen...look at that face. He was fawless and a superb actor.

  • OMG! i love this scene! Liz is at her most beautiful, look at that dress! such a good pairing, the film is pure movie magic!

  • That dress that Elizabeth is wearing is just as gorgeous and classy as she is!

    Simple but elegance.

  • i just l0ve elizabeth tayl0r

    when she says

    Hello

    0MG

    she's s0 beautiful in this m0vie!!!

  • one of my favorite scenes from any movie. Monty and Elizabeth had two of the most pleasing voices of any of the actors in the golden age of Hollywood.

  • This movie is perfect!!! i love it!!!
