WWE has gone to shit becuse (1) all their big stars have retired around the same time (2) some of the fans that watched the attitude era have grown up, and have grown out of pro wrestling leaving the regulars.
Unlike TNA though, at least the WWE is taking the steps to ensure that the company survives 10 years down the line.

Russo is probably responsible for the accidental death of Owen Hart and the deliberate death of and WCW. Dixie carter made a huge mistake hiring Russo, or did Bischoff bring him into TNA? Okay, so UFC is outselling WWE on pay-per-view buy-rates--I can believe that. But UFC is, after all, a legitimate atheletic contest. Wrestling's popularity in the 90s skyrocketed when they finally abandoned the PRETENSE of being a legitimate atheletic contest.
Cornette, as much as I like him, seems to me to be upset that wrestling abandoned this pretense. As he said, he's from an old-school wrestling background, where the wrestlers never broke character, no matter where they went.

UFC is slaughtering wrestling in PPV numbers. While wrestling does have its viewers, thats b/c WWE and TNA champions wrestle on their televised shows instead of having people to pay to see them on PPV. UFC doesnt have Brock Lesnar fight every week on free TV. It's smart business and thats what makes UFC PPV's a million times more meaningful than any WWE and TNA ppv combined.

It seems to me, as a dedicated wrestling fan for almost 30 years now, that instead of having a "flunky" like Russo to do the creative writing for TNA, they should acquire the creative writers WCW had in the 1996/1997 era because it seems that those writers, whomever they were, seemed to write the best shit and almost put WWE out of business. If TNA were to do that then I believe they would have a fighting chance against WWE, if not.....prepare to "cross the line" TNA and fall over the "Edge"!LOL

I love Jim Cornette... He's hilarious and I love listenin to him bury people. I've been watching wrestling for 25 years, and I gotta say Russo has entertained me quite a bit. I can't watch a show that has no well written story lines. He's definitely had some duds, but so has Corny, so has Heyman, so has McMahon.

Unlike TNA though, at least the WWE is taking the steps to ensure that the company survives 10 years down the line.

Russo is probably responsible for the accidental death of Owen Hart and the deliberate death of and WCW. Dixie carter made a huge mistake hiring Russo, or did Bischoff bring him into TNA? Okay, so UFC is outselling WWE on pay-per-view buy-rates--I can believe that. But UFC is, after all, a legitimate atheletic contest. Wrestling's popularity in the 90s skyrocketed when they finally abandoned the PRETENSE of being a legitimate atheletic contest.
Cornette, as much as I like him, seems to me to be upset that wrestling abandoned this pretense. As he said, he's from an old-school wrestling background, where the wrestlers never broke character, no matter where they went.

UFC is slaughtering wrestling in PPV numbers. While wrestling does have its viewers, thats b/c WWE and TNA champions wrestle on their televised shows instead of having people to pay to see them on PPV. UFC doesnt have Brock Lesnar fight every week on free TV. It's smart business and thats what makes UFC PPV's a million times more meaningful than any WWE and TNA ppv combined.

It seems to me, as a dedicated wrestling fan for almost 30 years now, that instead of having a "flunky" like Russo to do the creative writing for TNA, they should acquire the creative writers WCW had in the 1996/1997 era because it seems that those writers, whomever they were, seemed to write the best shit and almost put WWE out of business. If TNA were to do that then I believe they would have a fighting chance against WWE, if not.....prepare to "cross the line" TNA and fall over the "Edge"!LOL

I pretty much agree that Cornette is a moron (what he did at the Dairy Queen convinced me of that) and I am not a Cornette fan as a human being, but I highly doubt Cornette is jealous of Russo. I will say that I would love to "fuck Dixie," but I would never want to "fuck Russo." WWE is not the company it use to be.buyrates and ratings have dropped significantly b/c vince drove away wrestling fans with this nonsense sports entertainement. im not saying cornette is an all time great booker but if he was allowed to book the way he wanted w/o vince's influenece, the product would've been better.

WWF is a billion dollar, publicly traded, company raking in cash and is worth more now than all of Cornette's sainted territories were combined at their height. Cornette was able to book with out anybody's influence in SMW, OVW, TNA, and ROH and nothing he has ever booked any place has drawn any money. Wrestling has always been sports entertainment, but VInce was just smart enough to admit it and made millions of new fans by doing so.

When Cornette runs a billion $ company with hundreds of millions of fans and McMahon is doing bitter Yout Tube rants to his 4 fan boys, then I will say Cornette is right. There is nothing unethical about making money no matter what lefties like you and Cornette may want to think and that is how the world and business works. Coke is the best cola, which is why I and the vast majority of people drink it and it makes the most cash. Ya and he lost millions of fans too lol. Their PPV buyrates and ticket sales are plummeting! And WWE is worth millions not billions. Evidently u never watched OVW they put on some damn good shows while Cornette was there despite dealing w/ Johnny Ace and creative's bullshit. Cornette worked in production, not in booking with TNA. And Cornette is more of a consultant with ROH, not the head booker, which Adam Pearce does. Youre wrong Cornette did have to deal with other people's influence.

WWF as a company is worth over a billion (it is publicly traded so look it up) and McMahon personally is worth a few hundred million (Cornette is worth $3.50). Wrestlemania 26 with 73,000 in attendance and 1 million watching on PPV sure shows how business in plummeting. Cornette is executive producer of ROH, so he calls the shots, and Cornette was on the TNA booking committee (learn about your redneck idol)

The buyrates have not come out yet for Mania and with the UFC show that weekend I doubt they did a million buys they didnt even do a million last year. Cornette's SMW was a case of too little too late thats not an excuse it's just a fact that interest in wrestling during that period declined. Plus it stayed in business for nearly 4 yrs which was pretty damn good for that time period. Well you are totally wrong, but that is typical of Cornette fan boys. Russo did not invent Brawl For All, Cornette's pal Ross did and after that Ross was never allowed to book again. In 1996, Austin told the creative team (Ross and Cornette) the gimmick he wanted to do and they came up with pages of stupid names for it like they invented dumb names like TL Hopper and Freddie Joe Floyd. Russo gives himself too much credit at times, but as head writer in 1997-1998 he decidedly decerves some credit

I know who created those bad gimmicks and gimmick names because I researched it and the guys doing the writing then were Cornette and his pal Bruce Pritchard period.
