A little boring with no-one on the streets. Groningen should be shown as it is, a vibrant city filled with people everywhere.
Cycling through the city centre should be cycling by people who cross the street without looking, taxi and bus drivers out to drive over you, THAT'S Groningen :)
Where were all the people? What time of day was this there were hardly any people on the street. The video could have been better without the shaking due to the speeding. Didn't stop for the light like the other vehicles did, could've hit a pedestrian crossing the street and almost ran into that construction site. Got dizzy watching due to the shaking and and speed! Slow down next time.
dutch people bike really fast.. im surpised nobody overtook him, probably because it was so quiet. if it was busy, somebody would have been faster no doubt.
damn dutchies, when they get on a bike, they think its a rocket or something..
Oke i've been watching this with my Canadian friend. I am from Groningen I have to tell you, but we were laughing our buts of. We said this guy was moving fast, he must have been practising al lot. My condition wouldn't held it so long.
We were wondering you might ended the tour on de Grote Markt just to get reloaded again we assumed, because of the speed. You made the tour within less then 5 minutes. Bravo!!!
What a kick, after 16 great years in Groningen, 8 in the "Schilderswijk", this is LOVELY to watch!! ;D Too bad it stopped before reaching Elpee and Vera, my 2 fave haunts. But nice, very nice. Obviously filmed on Sunday.
Excellent, I love your video. I've had the pleasure of bicycling thru many cities in Nederland. Grongingen was a walk only, but everywhere of course. One of the top cities. Beautiful. I recognized alot on your course. I wish Philadelphia was more like Groningen.
i was there at hunzepark /groningen and there were a soccer field and 3 nice soccer-girls .... they mean ever : " mrs.doctor? :D " I have missed that :( :)
if these 3 nice soccergirls read this post ,should write to me by personal message ,pleasee :D
dutch society emphasises sustainable urban living better than any westernized society in the world. americas problem is that suburbanization is a bureaucratic lifestyle which profits off sustaining, while ideating sprawl and the personal auto as its standard. Boston spent 13 billion is a project to alleviate downtown traffic. if this money has been routed into public or alternative transit they would have set the example to "de-emphasize" auto use the way europe is doing so far ahead of them.
Its not only where you put the money in its the feeling and the choice i can make. I live 5 minutes from work with bicycle with the car its arround 15 if i got traffic james. The joice has been quickly made.
Great city. I lived there for two months in 1990. Reminds me of my many bike trips through this beautiful place. Does Simplon still exist? I cooked there for free food. Saw lots of post-punk shows and played lots of foosball. Good times.
Does it still serve meals, and allow people to cook? Does it still have lots of music shows? The people there were very kind to me, and made my two-month stay a joy.
hello dairyking887 , awesome man that you lived here for two months cool !!!!! hey and i dont know if somebody all ready told you if simplon still exist , but yea its still there at the same spot , boterdiep . Take care man and stay save , for that crazy plan NWO fema camps and all that stuff i stay septic about it but you never know , about those illuminati satanic People and all that bohemian grove skull and bones ETC , Peace !
My Grandfather's cousin was treated well here during World War One. He was held at the 'English Camp' as part of the Naval Reserve sent to defend Antwerp, but which crossed the border and laid down arms in preference to being taken prisoner by the Germans. Amazingly he and many others were allowed home (in his case to Grimsby) 'on his honour' that he would return to be a prisoner in this town. He used to meet my Grandfather who was also home on leave in his case back from the Somme!
[Continued] The cousin was a trawlerman and was teased: 'You can find Bear Island in a fog, blindfolded; but on land you get lost straightaway!' His Commodore realised defeat was inevitable and crossed deliberately into a neutral country, knowing they would be safe. The Naval Reserve was not well-trained, I think and I am thankful he survived what was a pointless war in any case. The internees were popular with the locals and often left the camp for visits to local houses. Thanks Groningen!
I LOVE THIS SMALL BUT DEDICATED CITY,i have been living in Groningen for 3years,I just feel that Groningen has been a very important part of my whole life.
Fijn gefilmd!
I had a distant relative who was interned at the 'English Camp' in Groningen 1914-1918, after the failed 'Antwerp Expedition'. He was allowed home to Grimsby on his honour as an 'Englishman and a Gentleman' that he would return. He used to meet my Grandfather (his cousin) home fom the Somme. Both survived the carnage thank goodness! Nice town today. I must visit.

Looks like a nice place, are motorbikes allowed in the cycle lanes?
leapoffaith20 1 year ago
@leapoffaith20
They're not, they go on the regular road.
JugashvilliOnline 1 year ago
@JugashvilliOnline at 3:00 there is a moter bike and it doesn't look like it's a proper road, that's what got me thinking.
leapoffaith20 1 year ago
@leapoffaith20
Those are not motorbikes but mopeds. Little motorbikes with max 50cc engines and speeds limited to 30-45 kph.
Also, this road is a proper road except it's only accessible to local residents, logistical vehicles and taxi's. That's why there's no cars. Cheers.
JugashvilliOnline 1 year ago
