  • this one of those songs that when you hear it ....you cant forget it....i be singing this all week now....more than i can say about most modern rubbish...

  • background vocals are great ! Love this song

  • reminds me of the Torch (Stoke) where i am from and of course Wigan-)....thanks

  • Absolutely wonderful!

  • or in my case "one girl too soon"

  • Loveliness

  • She passed away from complications of breastcancer. And yes she was a sweet individual, and very much loved!!!

  • Does anyone know how miss Payton passed i have not able to find any information on a cause of death

  • this song peaked at only #48 on the soul charts in april of 1973. not good for a philly record , especially around this time when just about every other philly record was a hit or close to it. then again when you listen to this record you get the impression it was made and released in the wrong decade (it sounds like a late 70's, early 80's sound.)it probably would have climbed higher on the charts. just my thought !

  • BRENDA PAYTON DIED IN 1992 R.I.P.

  • Grew up listening to her and never forgot her. God Bless you Brenda, where ever you are! - Ikahn, NY

  • She also does a really nice number on "Where There's a Will" (there's a way) also

  • Its great to come on here to see the comments, and see what effect the music we grew up with, had on our lives. We have to give respect to anyone who keeps this sound alive,be it you tubers, djs,or groups like the Northern Soul.It amazes me to see how the whole world has a love for American soul music.Guess like a lot of others,We're living in a time warp, and dont want to let go and we wont.

  • this is fu cking good song where i can download this song?

  • I never heard of her before but I do love this song. When ever I hear old songs they really speak to the hearts and it takes me back when love was innocent. Love is still innocent but now people let the body take over and it's all a lie now with most people.

  • love this song,it's on the k-tel super bad album that i have in my collection

  • Great song.Could listen to it for hours.Remember rushing down town to buy the single.Got it still somewhere.Competition last night on the radio for 50 song titles with a number 1-5 in the title.Texted this one in but DJ said he could not remember it.Hope he looks it up.Great songs do stay in the memory.

  • @floperry20 Must don't know the b-side songs, just the ones that crossed barriers!

  • @3kenyetta Can't remember the b-side.Nothing wrong in crossing barriers!.Have a nice day!.

  • Definitely one of my favorite female voices of all time. Brenda! you gave me so many years of happyness.

  • so sweet!

  • R.I.P brenda.

  • This is a perfect example of how underrated Brenda and the Tabulations were. Their songs were extremely well written and performed. They took everyday feelings that we all had and transformed them into little gems of music. You could identify with the song. Wonderful.
