I want to make sure you understand that I wasn't saying you are insecure. I was saying that racists are insecure. And yes, they absolutely exist. Not only do blatant racists exist, but also there are huge numbers of people who harbor racist ideas but deny it even to themselves. And there are even more people who simply cannot understand the experience of others. And there is also institutional racism. Black men are more likely to be accused of and convicted of crimes...
It's not fair, just or right. But what are you going to do about it? You can't let it stop you. You have a right to be angry. I'm angry on your behalf. But what are you going to do about it? I would suggest that the only realistic plan is to find a way to succeed. Yes, success will be harder for you to achieve than for many of your peers. But what choice do you have? Ultimately, the single most important thing you can do is win.
There will probably always be a few individuals who are so personally insecure that they can't be comfortable with people who are different from themselves. But the bulk of our population has moved on. As evidence, I offer the fact that America elected a black man as President. I would encourage every black man to pursue whatever career field catches his interest with absolute confidence that our culture will support his choice, both now and in the future.
@jbcasp I'm sorry for the delay. It looked like you didn't reply for a minute there but it looks like you did. Actually, no. It's not insecurity. Just as Malcolm X I have more than enough self reliance but I know for a fact that racism is still alive in america, just well hidden even with our new president. There are some things you wouldn't understand unless you walk a mile in someone's shoe. I believe he won because healthcare is a serious issue and bush was a jerk if you watch movie sicko.
that makes sense. In one of my behavioral science class, the professor had given everyone a serve to fill out. One of it reveals both men and woman would rather have a boss that is male rather than female. I don't know what it is with girls, but most of the time they don't get along. Well how about of ethnic background? would a black male entering the field make people feel a bit of discomfort. please be honest.
Could I be an x-ray tech. with a felony?

is this field only for woman? i feel out of place

Personally, I would love to work in a field dominated by the opposite gender.
Male X-Ray Medical Technicians are not too uncommon, but they are extremely well received in the profession.
