@normansmother1 he used to be good, he was restricted by the resources he had, then he began to focus on flashy lights and sounds and stopped making a movie and made an effects reel instead
wish there were shows like this on today....i know jonathon ross did that Asian film think a few years ago but it was a bit of a briaf overview-miike, park chan wook etc...nothing anyone who didnt alteady have an interest wouldnt already know about or have seen..
I would agree with most of what ..mrglass said, but I think regarding the (actually pretty tame when you look at the sick snuff porn that tries to pass itself as horror) tree scene was seized upon by the "video nasties" crowd and drew the kind of attention Sam didn't intend. Like he says, his intention was to entertain; not to offend and I think he just thought of a creative idea and with those tree branches and implemented it but didn't expect the backlash it caused.
God, I remember this series and this episode too. If I recall they showed Crimewave shortly after, a brilliantly nutty Sam Raimi fim. Thanks man for putting these up. Its like time travelling to my youth , best decade!
Thank you very many for uploading this. I'm a huge Evil Dead fan and I've been searching for this. I was surprised that Sam says he regrets the first Evil Dead's "tree rape scene". I think it's the best scene, it makes the movie. But I can imagine that some people didn't get it and he had to hear about it alot.
@tinke27 It seems many great directors regret their "non pc" elements of their early movies and I find that sad. Spielberg regretting painting the Nazi's as he did in Raiders, using guns in ET, and Lucas...well too much to list here! They mellow out, mature, as they get older, hence why they will never reached the heights of the early days when they were brash, energetic, less calculated, going with the flow and "its all or nothing" risque attitudes.
@kaib2 and theycallmemrglass
Yes I'm with theycallme.... I just love them!
This is the point, not suck cock,
I just wanted to tell that I fucking love Evil Dead trilogy!
And that's it.
Please don't go "deeper".
Thanks.
