AVATAR has pushed CGI to the next level. I want to tell something, no matter how hard they do there is something lacking because its not real. I have researched on CGI for all most 3 yrs what i found was u cant cheat real world. CGI is still in its infancy even now after avatar. There still lots to be done to make it look real. Maybe in next 100 yrs it may become possible.

For those who haven't seen the whole movie, I truly feel for you. I have seen this movie many times and in different versions, both in theatres and out, and I have to say this is the only movie that will make me cry and make me feel good no matter how many times I have seen it. If you haven't seen it all the way, you really do need to just to have the full experience because that is what Avatar is, an experience.
I do love the movie but my fav creature has to be the single-winged creature at 2:15. I remember being mesmerised in the movie. :) It looks almost magic.
if u think about it this is how it was back in the 1400-1900's those people are white who are trying to take the land from the indians. the na'vi are the indian's and the researchers are the white people who are trying to farm the land for that pieace of rock. the indians try to defend there land but have to kill the whites to do so. whites can just take what they think they can and indians get in trouble more when they try to do the same. well thats how i relate back to the movkie idk about u

I liked this movie. A lot. The special effects were amazing. The acting was great. The action scenes, boss. But the storyline was unoriginal. The only problem i had with this movie is that the plot was from Pocahontas. If it were a more original story, this would probably (relatively, not unfairly comparing today's movies to older ones) be one of the greatest movies of all time. A breakthrough in movie magic.
Cameron wrote Avatar in 1993 before Pocahontas and wanted to film it for 1999 in 1997 he announced but he decided to put his movie on hold as he put the script in a drawer waiting for technology to do it justice to his movie.

In one of the special scenes in the new dvd, the mountains are explained to have a "Maglev effect" because the unobtanium in the rocks is a super conductor. combined with the "flux vortex" thing that makes the magnetic field so strong, they float:)

But I don't see why the people of Earth on the movie should go about to care about a race of primitive aliens living six light years away that will never be able to climb out of the stone age. Wipe out the clans that are being an annoyance and leave alone those that aren't. Plenty much more merciful than what Humans have done to each other further back in time.

@Cordar The na'vi can't use metal to their benefit. The only mineral that comes close to metal on Pandora is the unobtanium, but it is what hold most of the environment toghether, so if they used that then the whole environment would crumble. So that's why they so far can't proceed from the stone age. One of the messages of the movie is no matter how less advanced a group of people(or shall we say aliens) can be, it still doesn't give you the right to whipe them out for a paycheck.
@Creaturelover18 And which part of your ass did you dig that out of? There are plenty of other metallic ore on Pandora, quite alot of the stuff they got in Hell's gate was built of local resources, with only the Unobtanium being sent back to Earth. The Unobtanium is in no way something that could cause the world to collapse if removed. The only reason the Na'vi can't use metal is that they lack the technology.
Just came back from the watching it on kookíca!!! It's awesome! I couldn't really understand the begginning though. My mom said the whole movie except for the ending was good for her... But actualy I liked the whole movie...

I liked this movie. A lot. The special effects were amazing. The acting was great. The action scenes, boss. But the storyline was unoriginal. The only problem i had with this movie is that the plot was from Pocahontas. If it were a more original story, this would probably (relatively, not unfairly comparing today's movies to older ones) be one of the greatest movies of all time. A breakthrough in movie magic.

Cameron wrote Avatar in 1993 before Pocahontas and wanted to film it for 1999 in 1997 he announced but he decided to put his movie on hold as he put the script in a drawer waiting for technology to do it justice to his movie.

This movie reminded me a bit of Dune with Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Princess Mononoke to even Castle in The Sky. Cameron is a fan of Miyazaki.

This film's only purpose was to prove that James Cameron is an obsessive, egotistical special effects maniac.
Terminator 1 and 2 - Awesome.
Aliens - Awesome.
The Abyss - Awesome
Titanic - Awesome.
Avatar - Bollocks.
What happened?! Cameron was a great director. But then this film took over his life, and now all he cares about are CG effects.
All I can say is, I am NOT looking forward to Sanctum.

In one of the special scenes in the new dvd, the mountains are explained to have a "Maglev effect" because the unobtanium in the rocks is a super conductor. combined with the "flux vortex" thing that makes the magnetic field so strong, they float:)

But I don't see why the people of Earth on the movie should go about to care about a race of primitive aliens living six light years away that will never be able to climb out of the stone age. Wipe out the clans that are being an annoyance and leave alone those that aren't. Plenty much more merciful than what Humans have done to each other further back in time.

@Cordar The na'vi can't use metal to their benefit. The only mineral that comes close to metal on Pandora is the unobtanium, but it is what hold most of the environment toghether, so if they used that then the whole environment would crumble. So that's why they so far can't proceed from the stone age. One of the messages of the movie is no matter how less advanced a group of people(or shall we say aliens) can be, it still doesn't give you the right to whipe them out for a paycheck.

There are plenty of other metallic ore on Pandora, quite alot of the stuff they got in Hell's gate was built of local resources, with only the Unobtanium being sent back to Earth. The Unobtanium is in no way something that could cause the world to collapse if removed. The only reason the Na'vi can't use metal is that they lack the technology.

Just came back from the watching it on kookíca!!! It's awesome! I couldn't really understand the begginning though. My mom said the whole movie except for the ending was good for her... But actualy I liked the whole movie...
