I just hope people don't think that Earl is a direct representation of most American pool players. I play in leagues here in Texas and it's always very cordial and polite. Everyone I know has nothing but respect for Souquet and other European players.  Strickland is a hell of a player and important to the game (controversy sells) but not representative of American pool

Kind of funny when Rachel asks him if Earl played his best pool and just lost. Ralph has a half pause as if he is shocked she asked that and then says most definately no, did not play his best pool. Most pro's know that if Earl has a flashback and actually played to his maximum potential there is probably noone in the world that would have much of a chance. Luckily for them he has not come close to playing his top game in a long, long time.

I think people need to understand that Earl doesn't act like a complete nut for no reason.. He has to be mentally sick.. if anything earl can be a role model in a sick sort of way. A friend of his told me that he was bipolar, and after hearing that I think he deserves a little bit of credit. if you have a sickness and you can shoot as great as he can, American or w/e credit is due. Judging him does nothing but put him in a worse place than he already is.

i've heard the same thing from a bipolar friend of mine, who takes inspiration from earl. but i think that's an unofficial diagnosis (i mean it's obvious to those in the know about these things) meaning he's no treatment for it, and it does get worse over time as the stress eats the brain up. that's why only earl beats earl.

I've always liked ralf's game watching him on tv. especially watching someo of his games on espn classic from the 90's, but seeing how patient and level headed he is makes me like him as a pool player that much more... earl strickland without a doubt is great at this game, some even say the best.. I believe at least one of the best, but he wears his emotions on his sleeves... and hes pretty derogative and demeaning towards people when hes losing
