  • I watched this again recently with subtitles, superb complicated dialogue, brilliant acting

  • I'm having withdrawal from this show because I let my dad borrow my DVDs, and he's taking his sweet time watching them.

  • milch has explained himself more than once.

deadwood was a lawless place filled with criminals who, assuming these lowlives weren't using that sort of language before arriving there, were most likely on the run or couldn't handle being in normal society. it's a quick way to let people know you don't want to be fucked with, whether you can back it up or not.

  • Francis Wolcott was such a great character, my favorite from Season Two.

"I may be a sinner who does not expect forgiveness but at least I am not a government official"

  • the didn't use swear words that frequently or in that fashion. a sign of weak dialog: when you need to force fit anachronistic cursing into already poor dialog.

  • @zackhanscom

I'm gonna say something about you that you will find quite offensive. You don't know what good dialogue is. Deadwood has some of the best writing ever put on a screen, and you did not seem to recognize that. Your statement is the same as someone watching a Tarintino flick and claiming it has bad dialogue. You don't have the capacity to judge writing based on your comment, the same way someone that says 2+2 = 5 does not have the capacity to do math.

  • @zackhanscom COCKSUCKER!

  • @zackhanscom wrong. They actually did if you saw the documentary.

  • @screwoffreg Correct--the producers researched speech patterns of the 19th century American west and it was very profane indeed. And it's odd that our friend seems to think that one of the most highly-regarded series of recent years has "poor dialog." So, what script has zackhanscom sold lately?

  • @zackhanscom ..you obviously do not know American history, or anything about American dialect for the time period..because if you did, you wouldn't have made such a stupid, moronic comment...This is incredibly accurate for Deadwood in 1876...for instance, a bull whacker such as Jane Cannery, would use very harsh language..and she was female. Your problem is, you've watched one too many John Wayne westerns.
