I love Kiss but its the same with Vinnie and Ace , they don't wanna admit Ace sold the most because its always gotta be about Paul and Gene , same with Vinnie , when he was doing solos at live shows paul and gene would always try to out show him , they said on Kiss exposed that theres 4 stars? after Ace and Peter lefted it was all about Paul and Gene , i mean come on boys you guys are one of the most popuar rock bands ever show Ace Peter Eric C,Bruce,Vinnie,Mark ,Eric s and Tommy some respect:)

the debate can go on and on, the bottom line is that anyone that was growing up iin that era was lucky to witness and be a part of the something that was so special and unforgettable, its sad that ace and peter left the band, but its clear that they just didnt see the band going in the same direction, gene mostly, but paul as well, had a sense of selling it commercially and they werent worried about the music, ace left for that reason, its 2 bad they couldnt have worked it all out.
It's ironic that Paul and Gene would think Ace didn't have enough songs for a solo album, when Gene had so little he re-recorded a Kiss song and covered a walt disney tune, and failed to top the original version of either.
Pauls album sounded too much like a shitty Kiss record, Pauls great voice fronting a band with no magic. Gene's was wierd. Ace's was the best rock album of the four, great songs, and a great sounding band that had some chemistry - so much so Kiss snagged his drummer for the next two Kiss albums.
Ace's sold the most, and continues to sell the most. Soundscan numbers show Ace's album as the biggest seller of the four for the last 20+ years, he also had the highest charting single, albeit a cover...New York Groove.

I loved ace and gene and both albums were cool but aces was the best, althogh I got lost in the earphones with genes many times Parasite is the baddest piece of street rock in musicistory.
Im a huge fan of ACE. Grew up on his playing. 74-77 he was an amazing player. 74 Winterland is his highlight. However, i don't feel that his solo was the best of the four. Genes is the best in my opinion. The diversity , songs, the contributions from other musicians, the humor, the cool cover, hands down it was the best. Aces was a good rock record but a bit simplistic and thin on the production . Some of the guitar sounds sound like they were recorded on a krako stereo. Genes was better.

As a drummer, I liked the variety of styles Peter introduced me to on his record, plus I really think "I Can't Stop The Rain" should have been a hit. commercially and chart wise: ace had the best reviews. then gene, paul, peter. all those albums went platinum, whose came closest to double platinum, in my opinion, aces or pauls.
Lets all be honest here.....There would be no KISS today without Gene and Paul! They are the brains behind the whole thing as far as business men go. KISS would have been dead in the early 80's without them. I thought that Sonic Boom was an outstanding Album, and I can't wait for the new one later this year!

@4everliam Hmmmm, Actually Sonic Boom was great! Yes it sou8nded like oler KISS which in turn sounded alot Like ACE, but the CD was geat! It received the best reviews of any KISS cd since Revenge with the exception of all the KISS haters out there. I boughtAce's cd, and I liked"Outerspace" which he didn't write. Other than that just a bunch of fluff in my opinion. I'm not saying that I don't Like ACE and Peter, but the fact is that they just can't hang anymore esecially peter.....

@Smfins i agree that eric is a faster harder and overall better drummer than peter, but ace is better than tommy or bruce. i love bruce, he's very good but ace not only can play , he can write and sing.. people sometimes want the original cause thats who started it all. look at journey, the newest singer can hit better and higher notes than steve perry cause of steve's age, but journey would sell out arenas everywhere id steve came back, only cause steve was the original.
Pathetic that they just can't give Ace credit. Regardless of their history of problems with each other it's kind of childish to not just admit that Ace's was the top seller.
When it comes to why the original line up isn't together any more, I for one think Paul and Gene's egos are just as much to blame as Ace and Peter's substance problems.

they should do what they did with creatures of the night and have the makeup on yes but have different makeup. vinnie vincent and eric carr did it and they win for that. tommy and eric singer are just gene and pauls tools and they should have more respect for themselves.

i just didnt care for sonic boom. i much preferred psycho circus. into the void over anything on sonic boom. and journey of 1000 years by gene over anything by far on sonic boom. but i do agree that peter is a weak link. if they just had ace id be fine with eric singer. cause he was awesome as fuck on revenge. but tommy thayer cant cut it over ace and they still shouldnt wear the makeup.

commercially and chart wise: ace had the best reviews. then gene, paul, peter. all those albums went platinum, whose came closest to double platinum, in my opinion, aces or pauls.

Lets all be honest here.....There would be no KISS today without Gene and Paul! They are the brains behind the whole thing as far as business men go. KISS would have been dead in the early 80's without them. I thought that Sonic Boom was an outstanding Album, and I can't wait for the new one later this year!

@Smfins Yes , great business men but, Ace was the sound of KISS and when you say Sonic Boom was an outstanding album listen to the solo's ... there ACE rip-off's !!! People want that classic sound and w/ Sonic boom they got it because, the only way KISS could pull it off was be to have Ace sounding solo's on it. Ace deserves credit !!!!

@4everliam Hmmmm, Actually Sonic Boom was great! Yes it sou8nded like oler KISS which in turn sounded alot Like ACE, but the CD was geat! It received the best reviews of any KISS cd since Revenge with the exception of all the KISS haters out there. I boughtAce's cd, and I liked"Outerspace" which he didn't write. Other than that just a bunch of fluff in my opinion. I'm not saying that I don't Like ACE and Peter, but the fact is that they just can't hang anymore esecially peter.....

I never really thought paul had a ego, Just that genes was big enough for both of them, and paul went along with genes ideas. Ace's was obviously the best...even though i really liked pauls solo album to, gene's sucked....sorry pete but yours wasnt that good

Genes was a let down, not what i expected from the demon in 78. To many slow beatle like songs. Pauls was sappy love songs, Aces rocked but i didnt care for his fractured mirror, peters LOL poor pete dont you let me down..

for one simple reason:
It was much, MUCH better !
Ace's record BURIED the other 3 Kiss-solo-records completely in every way possible! Better songs, better playing, cooler vocals . . . you name it...

Oh Come on man! KISS is gene and Paul! Actually Bruce Kulick is a better guitarist than Ace is. I saw KISS with the original lineup and with Eric Singer and Kulic/Singer Thayer, and Ace and Peter didn't even compare!

@Smfins i agree that eric is a faster harder and overall better drummer than peter, but ace is better than tommy or bruce. i love bruce, he's very good but ace not only can play , he can write and sing.. people sometimes want the original cause thats who started it all. look at journey, the newest singer can hit better and higher notes than steve perry cause of steve's age, but journey would sell out arenas everywhere id steve came back, only cause steve was the original.

Pathetic that they just can't give Ace credit. Regardless of their history of problems with each other it's kind of childish to not just admit that Ace's was the top seller.
When it comes to why the original line up isn't together any more, I for one think Paul and Gene's egos are just as much to blame as Ace and Peter's substance problems.

He quit playing his own solos are far back as '76. Ask him. He admits it. He's been riding a tidal wave of fame for 2 years' work. And you Ace worshippers, ask yourself this...if G&P are so damned bad, why did Carr, Singer, Vincent, St. John & Kulick do everything they could to stay in the band?
