  • Man, this is music. So pleasurable to listen to. Early Chicago really nailed the line between rock and jazz.

  • 5 people really care what time it is

  • that's not WALT!

  • I really hope the 4 dislikes are for the video quality and not for this great song.

  • Does anyone remember hot stoned we got that day?

  • @automan1950 Um...stoned enough that you forgot to spell "how?"

    :P

  • BS&T had already had a few radio hits by this time. CTA's first album came out right around the time of this festival. I remember that my horn player friends were all over it.

BS&T had been creating 3:00 pop hits for the radio, and CTA was more progressive, releasing longer songs. I remember that Danny Seraphine's drums didn't even all match. The did that drum solo with the horn guys all playing maracas & claves as the evening cooled. During tis song, I decided that I should never wear a watch.

  • Check out 0:43 It's either Robert Lamm on keyboards or an escaped mental patient tickling the ivories. Michael Myers stopped by to jam with the band on his way to Haddonfield, IL

  • this is 100% oldie progressive, it´s excelent!

  • I don't suppose it works often to do requests on You Tube. But would somebody please upload Chicago's "Hour in the Shower Suite"?

  • I will get around to it in a few weeks.

  • That would be terrific! Thank you so much.

  • Just think, one month earlier Neil Armstrong took the first step by mankind on the surface of the moon. No wonder they wanted to know if anybody really knew what time it was.

  • lol, Funny mortygwhiz.

  • lol definitely funny, mortygwhiz.

  • the trumpet, is the best. love this song

  • I thought this song was by Blood, Sweat & Tears?!?!

  • This video doesn't go with this song, they are

    playing something different

  • Best horn section in the business. Check out the trombone on Beginnings (wow!) Thismay be one of my favorite Chicago songs to sing though, and they're all fun to sing.

  • The power of the horn and percusion on stage in the mid seventies was unreal! they were a great inspiration for a lot of drum and bugle corps groups.

  • What came first , Chicago, or Blood, Sweat & Tears?

  • Chicago came first as a group (feb,1967), but released their first album until 1969. Blood Sweat and Tears began in july,1967, and released their first album in 1968.

  • I had this song stuck in my head during work today and i was dancin around and everyone looked at me funny lol

  • Nobody had the horn section Chicago had back then (although the Commodores were close, a bit later)...I don't know what Terry's death had to do with it, except his voice and vision were lost. the band definitely took a turn. I remember when I heard about Terry's accident. At the time, although I was a big Chicago fan, it was Chicago, and not just one person. I didn't realize at the time what a huge influence he was on the band. They were different after he fact, definitely.

  • How about the Horny Horns with Maceo Parker and Fred Wesley Rick Gardner??Started with James Brown and played with George Clinton..

  • Actually, Robert Lamm sings this tune. Terry Kath sang 'Make Me Smile"

  • I love this song and Terry had a great voice. I was a kid when they said he accidentally killed himself while cleaning his gun. He had a great voice. He would've been amazing now if he had lived.

  • thanks for sharing this PRICELESS video. Terry was a rock god!

  • Their early days were their best

  • Another example of how much Terry loved playing. Though he wasn't the key player in this tune, he was giving everything he had. A rock god if ever there was one.

  • It's funny to see how everybody has aged or physically changed over the years. The band certainly is 50X more polished and knows how to perform rather than just standing there playing their instruments.

  • I have to disagree. I much prefer to see bands play like they used to - without show, pretense or showing off. Give me the raw performance anyday. To see and hear these young and gifted musicians being themselves is a thrill. Since these days of innocence, it's all become a sham of showmanship and wow, look at me.

  • They went on at some insane middle of the night time and I was so exhausted I fell asleep. I think I awoke to Canned Heat later that morning. Great footage!

  • LOL Walt's mustache

  • This is great!! I'm 16 again and driving my Corvette with my first and only love, Sandy, riding with me. God, life was great then. 5 stars!!!! BSP

  • Here is a naughty quote: fuxx off beotch. Don't hijack comments.

    Terry Kath RIP.

  • Just a tad baby, but I still love you (wink). Tell me that you love me and I'll forgive you LOL!! BSP

  • Amazing! A real class act! I only liked their first 2 albums, anyway. I wish more bands today had this much taste!

  • The intro like they played it like that those days they don't play it no more.

  • Danny Seraphine!

  • CTA-Chicago's first LP,released through Poseidon Productions, turned out to be a chart-topper,highlighted by the trumpet and background vocals of Lee Loughnane.

  • great off ya face shagging music

  • nice

  • Great to see this again. I was there for all 3 days. Wish there was more footage!

  • CTA's set started ridiculously late, after a full day of great bands. I tried to stay awake but couldn't and went to sleep during close to the stage, waking the next morning to Canned Heat's set.

  • it's magic,thanks for this video

  • Who cares about all of that,

definitely not me but ok uh huh.

    Anyway...Great post!

    ;-)

  • The sax player is NOT walt Parazaider, maybe he was sick or something on the night?

    Bobby Lamm's outfit is strange!

He looks like he has just walk out of a Monestry!

  • If only I was around in their prime... :-/

    Love the song regardless, thanks!

  • thier not playing this song, the video and audio are of two different songs.

  • These films from Texas Pop Festival have the video and the audio out of sync. However, they are authentic recordings from the festival. Saludos!

  • thanks for this video it has taken me back to the stickball days..

  • What is Bobby Lamm wearing????

  • A pretty hip outfit....remember it was 1969!!

  • For a minute there I thought it was a hip shower curtain:-)

  • thanks for this rare document. They exactly look like the pictures inside the "Chicago Transit Authority" LP...it's funny the saxo doesn't seem to be Walter Parazaider, is he?

  • No, he is not Parazaider. Festival program reads "Walt Perry" but I think it's a misspelling. Thanks!!

  • Walter Perry is what Parazaider went by according to the liner notes on the box set. This is a very young Parazaider you are seeing in the video.

  • That's him? I thought someone subbed in for him.

  • This concert was released on Cd (bootleg) about 15 years ago. I have it and it includes a copy of the original programme is where I got my info as well as the Chicago box set itself..

  • Sax player is not Parazaider. Thanks for watching!

  • Thanks for clearing that up. I knew that was not Walt. Thanks for the video too!

  • Cool! they look like baby's here. So young.
