The woman had 'everything you could want' - she had a nice home, she's a writer, wealthy husband, lot of friends - she probably thought when she was young that she should aim to have all off this b/c of what she saw, but when she had it, she never got to know herself truly. Her goal in life was to see the world. That's why she travelled. It's about being the most positive and happiest you can be.

Not to criticize but have you ever been depressed? I am 15 and i have... when you are you eat simply to not die, therefor she goes to italy to marvel at food and taste and feel again. She goes to india to focus on her mental health! damn i wish i could do the same..."going to a church" is not going to fully help in that. She goes to Bali to find balance and to "breathe" again. It really helped me in a period of my life. For instance... If you can have an apportunity to travel the world, you should take it. And the life experiences that come along with it are huge. Wow, please watch the movie because you're drawing a whole bunch of wrong conclusions from a movie that is actually has a good and inspiring message. It's about taking the time to enjoy life, love the simple things, and love yourself. While Julia does portray a female with money and looks, she doesn't come across as a "pampered princess".
