I'm sorry, although I've been on ledisi since her independent record soulsinger, I'm a religious rachelle ferrell listener, not many people can touch her, I agree that ledisi is in a league of her own with the scating, but musical improvisation in its entirety, mama rachelle's domain. listen to rachelle ferrell third album individuality and listen to "why you wanna mess it all up" and then come back and comment lol!

I have many times. Not only have I watched that, but I've seen her perform it live, and ,although amazing, its planned. there's more than one video of her performing that song on youtube, if you watch em' you'll see that that whole going to work scat thing is done many times, its not true improv. rachelle on the other hand does true improv. I've seen her live 4 times and each time she did a different version of each song with a different story behind it and everything, truly original!!!

Ledisi and Karen have totally different styles. Karen cannot scat like Ledisi and Ledisi cannot do Karen's runs, vocal stunts or singing style. And there are videos of Ledisi singing apart from scatting so you can check them out. Ledisi, Rachelle Ferrell, Karen etc all are "crazy" with their unique styles and musicality... all beasts in their impressive unique artistry
