This ride is awesome, I just wish SeaWorld could make the splash to where it wets by standers, sort of like sheikra. Dont get me wrong I think the splash is amazing now I just think they could of done a little better and not make it so obvious that its not even dipping into the water. Honestly the wing tip is like a foot away from the water, they could atleast make sure the timing is right all the time like Ive seen wen its splashes like 2 seconds before the train even makes it.
In my recent visit to Orlando (just yesterday) I opted for Seaworld and experienced Manta both in the very front and very back (the back much better) however no matter where you sit that pretzel loop is fucking intense, it's easily the biggest range of G's I've ever felt from intensely negative going down in such a position to intensely positive at the bottom of the inversion on your back.

ehhh...not such a good ride...goes way to slow at some moments..
and if its a water splash..dont u think the offriders deserve to get splashed..this is why the gayest coasters in florida kick manta's ass...go ahead and yell at me and stuff..vbut its true
i just got back from sea world yesterday i was more willing to ride manta wich i did than i was with kraken but i rode kraken after and i have to say that both rides are amazing!!!

You really think that that water wouldn't add up after a while? This is a metal coaster, which means one word for touching too much water for too long: Rust...
Besides, It would not really be practicle, it isn't supposed to be this major high tech ride, it is meant to be a look into the beauty of the manta...
Rust isn't a problem... The water splashes on other coasters like Griffon and SheiKra DO hit the track and ARE produced by the train skimming the water (not by water jets like Manta's).
This is just not possible on Manta because the train would have to skim the water on an angle which would be too unstable and unsafe for the riders.
maxinebendix is right it isnt designed to soak people on the bridge but it would be cool if it did and second of all I was expecting the train to actually skim the water with probaly an inch of its wing , that would not cause much damage , even though it will make a little splash it would still be cool
it would cause masseve damage, all three trains have on board computers on them, and to be honest you do get a bit wet between this and "kissing the waterfall" :P
Don't care if it's made by the train or not... it looks AMAZING.
To have the train provide that effect would be damn near impossible. This is a great alternative that also provides a great visual on the ride, I'm sure. Riding in front of that 'wave' has to be great. I'm dying for someone to post a full POV.
That would be impossible to do. Given the banking of the track, the asymmetric drag of the water in contact with only one side of the vehicle would cause severe wear & tear damage to the vehicle. SeaWorld never intended for the vehicles to make contact with water. It's purely a visual element for bystanders.
I need to pee now. :(

Me too, but there are sensors under the water that are activated when the coaster passes the water.
Oneofakind407 2 years ago
@Oneofakind407 actually they are proximity sensors located on the track

Yeah uh-huh because this type of train touching the water like that would be totally practical and safe.

Looking closely however, it appears that the carriage actually fans the jets as it glides past.

The splash is designed to be subtle and graceful; not to soak people on a bridge!

at that kind of speed the water wouldn't react how you imagine, have you ever belly flopped?

i'm kind of disappointed. i thought that the splash was going to be caused by something actually on the train... still looks like a good ride though

If you put the vehicle upside down, you could do it like they have on Sheikra, or Diamondback.
