The overall design and ergonomics are incredibly different, as well as the bolt design. The only thing they have in common are the iron sights, which are common on European guns anyway.
That's the short-barrel version, it's good for urban combat but has much less range than normal ak 74, that's why it's not a good option for open field combat

this is AK-74Y(U - ukorochenny or shortened). cops use them and I think in Afghanistan they gave those to the drivers because they are easier to deal with being behind the wheel. It has the same mechanisms but short barrel causes it to have a lot lower accuracy and it overheats as shit. Not as good as regular AK-74 but still gets the job done

Actually,the power is less per bullet than an M16 due to slower FPS(maxed out at 3,000 FPS)And the .223 can go at 3,300 FPS.
But,due to the fact it's fully automatic you can put out more power.

It's not better than the M16.
Not even comparable.
This is a carbine of the AK74,used in airborne units.
I would NEVER compare an AK47 to an M16.
I would NEVER compare an AK74Su to an M16.
I would only compare an AK74 to an M16.
They are actually very similar,AK74 is a little less accurate,but still very good.
The best comparison is the Automatik Nikonov model of 1994,known as the "Abakan"

this is AK-74Y(U - ukorochenny or shortened). cops use them and I think in Afghanistan they gave those to the drivers because they are easier to deal with being behind the wheel. It has the same mechanisms but short barrel causes it to have a lot lower accuracy and it overheats as shit. Not as good as regular AK-74 but still gets the job done
