this is amazing, this might sound silly, but are these chalk based?? and when you use the brush, are you adding water??

@MayonaiseKing100 Thank you for youyr interest. The pastel pencils I used are chlkbased but I do not use any water with them. The tool you see me use is a rubber ended colour shaper, used to smooth the pastel together.

The paper I prefer to use is 160 gram sand coloured ingress pastel paper made by Fabriano.

Thank you for your kind comments and your question. The trick here is to fade the background by using weaker colours and then applying stronger colours to the foreground. I hope that this helps you.

The brush you see me use in the clip is in fact a colour shaper. It is made of a rubbery material and is ideal for blending the pastel into the pastel paper.
