Claiming that, if an atheist is true to his premises, the only thing that would exist to them is matter is wrong. For instance, some may believe in the separation between the brain and the mind, but still not believe in god(s). Some people may even believe in a soul or an afterlife. Saying that no god(s) exist is not equivalent to saying that all that exists is matter. If nothing else, energy still exists, so he's just wrong anyway, without having to get into weird philosophical stuff.

Well, all who "believes" in evolution would probably agree with me here; morals is the cause of altruism, which is the theory about why selfish organisms can be unselfish when living in a group. It was more effective to have morals, since they gave a upperhand over those groups that did not have morals. I would agree though that morals can be shaped and created by religious beliefs, but they are certainly not the cause of morals.

Alot of these debates take place in America and obviously Christianity is the one making most splashes there. The main 'representatives' of atheism like Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens have done a number of debates over Islamic faith, and Catholicism as that's big in the UK.

Claiming that, if an atheist is true to his premises, the only thing that would exist to them is matter is wrong. For instance, some may believe in the separation between the brain and the mind, but still not believe in god(s). Some people may even believe in a soul or an afterlife. Saying that no god(s) exist is not equivalent to saying that all that exists is matter. If nothing else, energy still exists, so he's just wrong anyway, without having to get into weird philosophical stuff.

Well, all who "believes" in evolution would probably agree with me here; morals is the cause of altruism, which is the theory about why selfish organisms can be unselfish when living in a group. It was more effective to have morals, since they gave a upperhand over those groups that did not have morals. I would agree though that morals can be shaped and created by religious beliefs, but they are certainly not the cause of morals.

@RTKFilms Lol,yeah,just because I don't believe in the unbelievable that makes me uneducated.I didn't want to believe in Jesus,my whole life was one big party,I was the lead singer in a fairly well paid contemporary dance band.Jesus saved me in a motel room ,by myself after reading the Bible for about an hour or so,my plan was to go find a bar in town,but Jesus changed my mind and my life that night.
