a ten top is a highly figured flame or quilt maple top, denoted by a "10" on the corner of the back of the headstock. having a ten top doesnt change the sound or tone of the guitar, but it looks nicer. i have a ten top and a red non ten top. ten tops also run about $900 more than a standard top.
