I will tell you what I like to do with Makers Mark,I take a good sweet apple and peel it ,put it in a wide quart jar and pour the Makers in with the apple and let it sit about 2 days or more .It gives it a great taste without over powering it..The apple tatse great too...
markers was exported as 43% but now dropped 40%. I know from net there was a green high proof markers. the bite at back don't match the home-made genital spice wonderful front palate that is bigger better hen other bourbons. Id buy 46 in a second but it's not exported here.
That was painful to watch! I put the Rare Breed in my top 5 fav bourbons. Lately I've been seeing it get kicked around in reviews while the RR90 has been doing good. It's like they've switched roles. What's up with that? I know they haven't come out with a new batch of RB lately
oh well. I wish they'd bring back the RR101 though!
@ipirian32 You like RB and that's understandable - it's a big bold bourbon. They are coming out with an uncut, unchilfiltered release of RB. It's version 04. Look on the neck of the bottles, you will see a 3 for most bottles today. I am interested in trying this new batch and see how it fares.
@bobmorris85 That's a port glass from Riedel. It's my favorite nosing/tasting glass. I also use a Glencairn Copita nosing glass. I spend a lot of time finding glassware that's right for me and for the whiskey I drink. The way I nose looks a bit ridiculous at times, but it's what works for me. You do what works for you. There is no one way to drink whiskey.
@bobmorris85 Are you really criticizing the man for using proper glassware to correctly nose and taste these whiskies? He's doing everything right. I can't imagine you know what you're talking about.
stopping by on recommendation of ralfy mitchell or ralfystuff here on youtube. nice comparison review you've done there. maker's has for me always been a solid and enjoyable bourbon -- my standard. it, along with elijah craig 12 are probably my favorite regulars, though i do enjoy a number of others, as well as single malts.
@jboothe7 Ralfy's the best. I can't appreciate him enough for giving me a shout out. I've been watching him for years and think he's just as good as it gets. Elijah 12 is an excellent Bourbon. Fantastic balance with well integrated oak that borders on the high side, but is held in check with all those flavors going on. And from a "nose" standpoint, it could be as good as bourbon gets. Great price too - you can't beat that.
