  • a talented cyclist does not need a coach...goes the same for other sports...

  • Lance Armstrong's winning record isn't good enough? I did beat him in the NY Marathon...passed him and he was gone in my rearview. Nice guy. Why doesn't anyone mention anything about what the other cyclists were taking and still couldn't beat him. I guess during his winning, everyone was clean? I don't think so...some were on more stuff than a horse!

  • faggot

  • lower ur drops to get more aggresive

  • He was the worst coach I ever had.

  • These people are clearly not enjoying this...

  • That chick looks dead...

  • @chrisbear08 lmfao !!!1 haha

  • Many endurance athletes trains to hard. Should focus more on lactate threshold pace..

  • This training can be just a good platform for those who are cycling here for good health, working on stationary bicycles is very good to keep onself fit, but I don't know why it is named as Lance Armstrong's training, if you have to be trained like Armstrong then you have to hit the road with your own bikes and your trainer, nothing helps cycling indoor.

  • @jejunostomy I agree. Can't beat the road. Only point to indoor trainers is when you can't get outside e.g. snow, ice, or just too damn cold.

  • Lance is hurting just as bad as you are....he's just going faster

    LMAO

  • Is he trying to chat her up?

  • i do the 3x5mins at max as a workout quite often its a killer! i do see improvements though

  • "He likes the fact... That... He basically... Just about wins every time trial in the Tour De France."

Call me cynical but Carmichael's irritating me in this video and I'm not even pouring my guts out on a turbo right now.

  • did you see what gears they were using, right up high on the back cogs and on the small ring if you ask me thats a futile effort when im on my stationary bike i make a point of always being on the big ring or else everyone else is gonna be stringer fitter and faster than you if you use their gears

  • Doesn't really matter which cogs are being used, It's the cadence and watt-output that matters.

  • Chris Carmichael is the man behind Armstrong's dominance. A great coach.

  • @karuitha Carmichael was accused of doping by some members of the US junior team, he settled the case to avoid a trial.

Lance used Dr. Ferrari since 1996, well-known as the best doping doctor of the world. With his help, he did astonishing and rapid progress, from a less than average TDF rider, unable to clim, he became the unbeatable climber!

  • Cycling is tough stuff!!! This guy is fit!

  • Lame imitation of Troy Jacobson's Spinerval training series. Whatever works for you, I find CTS boring.

  • I love this helmet!!Its the best!!!!!!!

  • what is the name of the device that they train on with the bikes? where can u get one of these?

  • called a windtrainer. also called magnetic or fluid trainers

  • can somebody explain to me what cadence is?

  • Its how fast you pedal.

  • the number of pedal revolutions per minute on one crank

  • Rounds per hour (rpm) you're pedadlling.

  • Pedal revolutions per minute. There is an optimum cadence depending on the terrain you're riding and your conditioning.

  • They're both important. The long hours happen in base training time. Then intensity has to creep in more and more in shorter efforts with more recovery when you get closer to the peak events. But racing helps get you into shape the way you would like to be, because nothing except racing truly prepares you to race.

  • This is a VERY good workout series to get people into cycling shape. Absolutely one of the best you will find.

There is no doubt that Chris Carmichael played a major role in getting Lance to the point where he could overcome a brutal bout with cancer.

If others want to learn how to do the things that Lance did on a smaller scale, what's wrong with that? Nothing. And if Chris Carmichael can profit from it, good for him.

  • @readyset Chris has a great pro cycling history on his own . not to mention helping make many riders including Lance who they are . But ,yep ,this is still corny as all hell .

  • @readyset well maybe is not the best tip, but he is charmaichel, was a pro rider and the coach of one of the best cyclists ever, and you, maybe you mother knows who you are, and like you even if you have shit in your mind

  • this is the worst thing i have ever seen

  • most guys know intervals help you go faster & stronger. some also know to powerfully pump those cranks while being even more intent on staying relaxed. practice keeping stress down. lower that heart rate as you rocket those RPMs. Soon you'll be floating. Soon enough, with less effort, it's like you can fly.

  • what a douche. "this one time, at the tour de fronce (!) me and lance had chocolate dipped strawberries"

  • he should say it bob roll style... "terr day frants." ha.

  • This guy talks about "pain" lance claims to be on his bike 8hrs a day... You can either train "intensly/short" or "distance" You can't do both. If you where in pain 8hrs a day, youd break. Stu mittle man "ran from San Diego to New York" he talks about being in "comfort as you run" i know the same applies to bikes. Not saying there is no internval, high intensity training, there is... but its not much.

  • he said 6 hours in that nike commercial

  • 7 hours in one of his books.

You could in theroy train for 8 hours a day, just not at TT pace maybe at a comfortable pace but not high intensity, even im skeptical about that.

  • Professional tour cyclists can end up training for something like 12 hours a day. Something like 6-8 on the bike then the rest doing tests or in the gym or whatnot.

In reality they can do whatever they want. Lance could probably keep up near time trial for hours just without pushing the red zone.

  • The team helps you rest. But there are hours and hours of pain as well.

  • The junior National team in 1990 was coached by Chris Carmichael, Rene Wenzel supported by a man named Angus Fraser.

Greg Strock a 17-year old rider on the team, recalls his first session with Fraser. "Rene was in the room the first time I got a rub from Angus. He told me to have complete faith in Angus, who he said was a professional and knew what he was doing." Fraser had his own room at the team hotel.

  • As well as massage, his official duties included taking blood tests, supplying medicines and vitamins, and providing injections. He was being paid to do this by The United States Cycling Federation even though he had no medical training. Riders entered his room alone, wearing just a towel, and were asked to like down on the table. The curtains were drawn and Fraser did his best to make them feel comfortable. "Just relax in here. Dont Talk," he told them.

  • "He wore a blue and white apron," recalls Strock. "Sometimes the injection came first, then the rub; other times the injection came afterward. At one point we were getting two or three injections a day. I questioned Rene quite a bit. 'What is this?" 'Is this Legal?" In his eyes I was a nuisance. 'Damn it Greg, if you want to succeed as a pro, you are going to have to learn to trust your trainers and coaches. The pros on the Tour dont waste this kind of energy.

  • Then for the team time trial, each member of the team was given a caffeine suppository, after which I remember having a horrible stomachache and being curled up in the fetal position. We had a van parked near the start/finish line and it was there we took the suppository.

"You put it into your anus and it released a stimulant."

  • IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT

    FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLORADO

    Judge John L. Kane

    Civil Action No. 00cv2285JLK

    GREGORY A. STROCK,

  • 2. Dr. Johnson states in his expert report, in pertinent part:

It is my opinion that Mr. Strocks response to the administration of

corticosteroids present in the extract of bovine adrenal gland he was given

(initial improvement followed by worsening symptoms) is typical of the

  • effects produced by corticosteroid hormones: The antiinflammatory

actions to reduce arthritic pain occur within hours, whereas the suppression

of the immune system from chronic administration usually becomes

apparent later (days to weeks). The data obtained from study of Mr.

Strocks serum antibodies at the University of California Medical Center in

San Diego in June, 1991, suggest that the viral infection that he had

developed the previous year was caused by human parvovirus B19.

  • This

virus is known to produce arthritis with pain and swelling of the joints,

especially in individuals with impaired immune function, such as diabetics

or individuals who have taken corticosteroids.

  • In addition to impairment of the immune system, corticosteroid

administration can cause myopathy, a weakening of the muscles, that can

    also decrease athletic performance.

  • This could have contributed to Mr.

Strocks declining athletic ability . . . . [T]he combined effects of the

corticosteroid hormones on Mr. Strocks immune system and musculoskeletal

system could have impaired his ability to perform at the toplevel

    after 1991.

(Strock Br. in Oppn to Mot. Summ. J. Ex. 13, Dr. Johnson Expert Op. ¶¶ 12, 13, January

    21, 2002).

  • 5. Strock attests in his affidavit:

[The steroids] suppressed my immune system, making me more vulnerable

to contracting parvovirus, and other infectious agents, and/or made an

existing infection much more severe than I would otherwise have

    experienced without these harmful substances.

  • Furthermore the direct

interactions of these toxic substances with my body could have produced

some, if not all, of the signs and symptoms I experienced which ruined my

cycling career. But for my having been doped, without my knowledge, and

lied to about these substances, I would not have suffered the devastating

effects which ended my cycling career.

(Strock Br. in Oppn to Mot. Summ. J. Ex. 31, Strock Aff. ¶¶ 4, Feb. 2, 2002).

  • Dr. Reilly testifies that,

most people who know more about this than I do would tell you that there

is some increased risk [of immunosuppression] at any dose of exogenous

corticosteroids. And you need to be on them for a period of time . . .

probably best expressed in days or weeks to be at increased risk . . . .

  • (Summ. J. Hrg Tr. 77)(citing Kaiter Br. in Oppn to Joint Mot. Summ. J. Ex. 45, Reilly

    Dep. 50:1751:

    2, July 9, 2002).

    7. Wenzel testifies he knew of two other National Team cyclists who became ill

around the same time as Strock. (Strock Br. in Oppn to Mot. Summ. J. Ex. 3, Wenzel

    Dep. 188:19190:

    25, Oct. 24, 2001).

  • "Paced," ha!! Drafting at 11 mph saves about 10 watts. If you did it in 47:00 flat at 150 pounds thats over 390 watts average.

  • A lot of those Kenyan runners are using EPO too. There is no drug-testing whatsoever there and if there was its Africa! Corruption... Wouldnt cost much. What are they gonna do? Loose and go back to shoveling rocks in Paul Sherwin's African Gold Mine? Get a commercial sponsorship exemption like Pharmstrong and you can beat the whole system into 'remission'.

    Through drug-therepy. Ha!!!!

  • This is a great hobby, "bagging" on someone that deserves to be bagged on; Pharmstrong....

  • Your 37 years old!!! EVERY SINGLE LANCE ARMSTRONG VIDEO your ranting and ranting about doping, do you seriously! have absolutely nothing better to do with your time?? Get a hobby jesus christ

  • Don't even bother... mustard"junkie" is a crackpot. He talks tough about how he's a racer, but I've told him to name the race and I'd be there to show him a thing or two. I've never asked for his name or what he looks like, but I've described myself to him so he'd know who I was when I beat him. He just makes lame sorry ass excuses... I don't know whether to keep laughing at him or feel very sorry for this person.

  • Im just going with laughing at him, he's like the crazy prophet on the corner that everyone tries to avoid.

  • You're on thin ice calling him a child molester.

  • How so?!

We can race... Never "Talked tough!" 47 minutes on Alp D'Huez! Thats a good time you made up... As fast as the Kenyans went! How much do you weigh?

  • Ha Ha Ha!! The Kenyans did it in 46 mins jet laged, and 42 mins just weeks later! I'm 1-5mins slower on a 15.5km course. That's a huge difference!

What's with you're weight question without any others? Why not ask about pace, cadence, altitude training, or gear ratios? Is my bike well under the legal weight limit, was I paced up the Alp?

God I thought you knew something about cycling.

  • 3 pound doesnt make any difference.

Altitude training? Ha!! What a load of crap. The sleep and training is terrible at altitude. Hypnoxic tents and all that crap is a cover-up for jacking EPO.

  • Greg LeMond and Hinault arrived there at 48:00 in 1986. In 1989 Fingon clocked a 42:10 and LeMond came in 30 sec. later.

I guess 'Ya'll' going quicker than Guys with VO2 max values over 92 ml/kg-min.

  • Me... 4 months training for the one pass.

Them... exhausted after 2 weeks full on competition.

Sorry again that you don't believe me... Canada does have some fairly large Mountains for this sort of training!

I guess you don't believe training works though... probably because it never worked for you, thus you insist that anyone with talent must be on drugs!

    Silly little man.

  • NOt everyone! Pharmstrong and the rest of Atana, CSC, Basso and company and dont forget Columbia's fake testing program.

When did I say everyone was on drugs? Would I be saying this stuff if I though EVERYONE was on drugs?

Oh, Symmetrics was juicing and using the hynoxic tent excuse for 49.9% hematocrits! Canadians like to dope too. Very embarrasing.... Like Chris Shepard getting jacked and then, "coming back, 'clean."

  • Some Canadians use drugs????

My God... what Earth shattering revelations are you going to unleash on us next?

  • VO2 is only a part dude. Lactate Threshold and absolute power combined are more important. For example a guy with a 90 VO2 could take in much more oxygen than someone with a 77 but if the guy with a 77 has a LT at 6 or even 5 with an absolute power threshold pretty close to his threshold then its basically a wash.

  • Its ok to be preaching, but please give it a break to the Lance Armstrong KoK sucking, PLEASE!

  • Is this supposed to be a real training video or a spoof? I can't tell.

  • This video was copied from the Chris Carmichael Train Right DVD. I have this one and use it while riding my stationary bike. I think this is the DVD for time trial training.

  • what a tool right he hurts just as bad lolol... right guy. when I suck lance of like this he feels the burn. thats it you did it just like lance lolol

  • Why are they training on pussy bikes?

  • LMFAO

  • watching lance is like watching someone else in fast forward.

  • hahaXD what is this?

  • well it says in the info box
