  • This is a cool show. Comedy about polite manipulation in a government and status quo. The American show MASH that some of you may know had witty, fast dialogue too. I really miss that on TV, but what the heck Doctor Who comes back on BBCA soon. 9PM on the 27th few hours away can't wait

  • Makes me laugh that however many years later, we've still not decided on a proper policy!

  • scheiß Webung vorweg

  • Has there been an american political comedy? any ideas?

  • @pratyush7 the one with Michael J Fox and the guy from Rocky horror Show dabbled in politics, but not in a serious way, certainly not a courageous way. YM is the most courageous comedy ever proposed, minister!

  • @stoprainingonme Humphrey usually uses the word 'courageous' to describe something very foolish and appalling...

  • It's Prince Harry! With a moustache...Haha.

  • its supposed to be planes trains and cars, not boats, isnt it?

  • automobiles

  • Wasn't the man w/ the mustache in the first Blackadder series?

  • yes, wasn't he the elder son that King Brian Blessed favoured over Edmund B?

  • Yes, Prince Henry. I thought it was him. No mustache can fool me. Do you have any idea if either Yes Minister or Yes Prime Minister are shown on BBC America? I really want to see this show.

  • Yes, Robert East, an unappreciated great actor. You've also seen him in Miss Marples, and as the mechanic in BBC's Bluebird. He also does some radio work.

  • kenif: Funny, he doesn't look like a Robert.

  • How does that deserve a neg. 1

  • wow, I don't even reconize him... I've seen the whole Blackadder series, and know who you guys are talking about... interesting!

  • ro2036: It's too bad that most American comedy isn't the same as British, of course that's what makes our unique I guess. I don't mean that in a cocky way though.

  • It's alright... I get what you mean! ;)

  • Have any fav. comedies (Amer. & Brit.)? I like Blackadder, Daily Show, Colbert, MASH, & Scrubs.

  • Blackvegetable...adder, YPM, Keeping Up Appearances, and all time favorite Fawlty Towers.

  • Hero: Which Blackadder series is your favorite?

  • Part the second, I think it is called. I love them all. Part two had him a little more dominant that the first series. Goes Fourth is also great. I also have the Time Machine reunion show which has the big twist at the end. I forgot to mention one of my other Favs was "Are You Being Served" including "Grace and Favor"

  • Hero: I liked the third series. I wish that Br. seasons were longer. 6 per doesn't seem enough!

  • Amen to that. I am ammused watching "House" since I have seen Hugh Laurie in so many silly situations.

  • Hero: It's kinda sad that most people in the US only think of Hugh as 'House' and don't even know he's British.

  • @NGS712 I have to say that I've tried watching "House" and I can never take it seriously. I'm afraid that to me, Hugh will always be Bertie Wooster. :)

  • @AliceTRoyal Why dash it all, AliceTRoyal, I must say I agree entirely with you, old gal! :p

  • @NGS712 I know I actually liked it better in MI-5!

  • It cannot be, for the simple reason that in America sex has to be there everything! without which nothing will sell.

  • kunuseri: What cannot be?

  • What I meant was that american comedy cannot be the same as british because nothing will sell without sexual content in america;

  • kunuseri: That's true to a certain extent, but how much did Monty Python rely on sexual content?

  • Monty Python wasn't American, it was a British series.

  • neon: I know that. That was my point. Monty Python used sexual humor too.

  • It didn't depend on it.

  • Mulla: No, but it still used it from time to time nonetheless.

  • Yes, but that is a far cry from relying on it as you said.

Besides, Monty Python are (or rather, where) as popular in the states as they where anyware and I doubt that it could be explained by some of their scetches featuring sexual themes!

  • Mullah: Ok, they didn't 'rely' on it. However, not ALL American comedy relies on sex jokes either.

  • My point exactly.

  • Mullah: Good, then we agree . . . I think.

  • it is always good to end on a note of agreement :P

  • It's all because of SPAM! :>}

  • 'Tis indeed.

  • Where is he? Can´t reconigze him

  • There can be no doubt what this video is.
